Bassnajr Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Hey all and Happy Holidays!! What is the best way to store trolling motor batteries in the off season? I have them in the basement, that much I know. I also charged them after the last time I went out. bassnajr Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 31, 2007 Super User Posted December 31, 2007 Up off the cold floor and ALWAYS charged. Quote
TopDog Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I keep them plugged in 24/7. I recommend it if your charger has that feature. Quote
Bassnajr Posted December 31, 2007 Author Posted December 31, 2007 I do keep it off the floor so I'm on the right track. I have a trickle charger, I just wanted to make sure that keeping it on the charger ALL WINTER isn't gonna hurt the battery or my electric bill!! ajr Quote
TopDog Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 If the battery is charged it will top it off...peanuts. I dont even think you will notice a difference in your electric bill. Quote
Ann-Marie Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Being on the floor causes no problems with a battery. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I keep them plugged in 24/7. I recommend it if your charger has that feature. +1 get a guest charger and never look back Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 I have a trickle charger, is that the same as a guest charger? ajr Quote
HPBB Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 mine stay in the boats outside in the winter weather ( 20 degree tonight and snow) plugged in 24/7/365 on my on-board chargers, always fully charged and ready to go and have no problems Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Al, "Guest" is a name brand Trickle is fine but not necessary I don't think. We just top ours off and put them inside for the winter. Some yrs, there isn't much left in them by the end of the season so we just save them and turn them in when we get the new ones for the yr. Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Oh.....yeah.....I...uh... knew that..... :-[ lol Quote
