Just caught the FB video, anyone have any other info on this? The tail looks a lot like a plopper. In a reply to someone it should be available soon.

I wish the video had the sound of the bait. The reason I like the Whopper Plopper so much is the sound, I think it just ticks the fish off sometimes it's so loud (130). I do like how they have the rear fin placement on those though, they look like they may shed weeds and debris better than the whopper plopper tails.

Mine is supposed to arrive by the end of the month sometime. I ordered the smaller one which is similar in size to the 130 plopper I believe.

Very interested to hear how it works. While I only have only caught one plopper fish and very few topwater fish, I went all in on the 110 plopper and some other topwaters this year to finally force myself to catch bass on top.

I'm pretty excited to try them as well. I've had great luck on the 3 smaller sizes of ploppers and even caught some on the monster 190, interested to see how these stack up. They have some very interesting colors too. I went with what I would describe as a translucent, holographic, black. After doing the conversions, it's going to be very similar in size to the 110 Plopper actually at just under 4" and a little less than 3/4oz. I ordered from Europe so I think they're more pike colors, interested to see if there will be more baitfish colors for the US or if they'll be the same.

I've had a chance to fish the Smashtail a bit now and can say it's a solid bait. I think the fins act as a keel/rudder that keeps it from wanting to roll like the ploppers do at times. I've added a couple more in the US colors.

Shown for comparison, a 135 Smashtail, 130 Plopper, 100 Smashtail, and 90 Plopper. The Smashtail is a taller bait, but thinner side to side. More noticeable in the larger size than the smaller one. The black near the hook I believe is shrink tube that keeps the hook from fouling on the blade.

I noticed that you said this lure doesn't roll as much as the Whopper Plopper, due to the fins. Does that allow you to use a faster retrieve than you would with a WP?

Can't say that for sure, I fish mine as slowly as possible. I've never encountered a situation when a fast retrieve was better than a slow retrieve with a plopping bait.

Got it. I'm just trying to decide if the Smash tail is different enough from the WP to order one. I have WP 75, 90, and 110. Is the plopping sound about the same?

I don't think it's quite as aggressive of a sound, little more of a subdued plopping since it isn't as hard of a plastic tail. Their sizes are a little different, I really like the 100 size as an all around bait for smallmouth and largemouth.
