Super User Scott F Posted June 10, 2018 Super User Posted June 10, 2018 That’s a white crappie. Maybe. I’d like to see the top fins and I’d be more sure. Quote
Graham Posted June 10, 2018 Author Posted June 10, 2018 Only pic I managed to snap...the color on it was beautiful. Good guess tho. Note those little prawn like whiskers on its belly. Thanks @Scott F Quote

Graham Posted June 11, 2018 Author Posted June 11, 2018 @soflabasser seems like it might be. Closest guess I’ve got so far. Only difference I can see is the lack of spots. Its gotta at least be in the same family. Crazy thing is we caught it in a river and it’s essentially an aquarium fish native to Asia. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 11, 2018 Global Moderator Posted June 11, 2018 It's a gourami for sure, not sure which variation, but that's what it is. 1 Quote

Its a blue gourami or a type of gourami for sure. Not all blue gourami look the same just like not all bass have the exact color pattern. Might be a fish that someone released into the river and maybe there's a small population of these fish in your area. Might be a good idea to tell your State DNR about this catch. South Florida has a very healthy population of exotic fish from Asia (bullseye snakehead, clown knifefish, etc) and South Florida is +10,000 miles away from most of Asia. 1 Quote
