I ordered 20 jigs from dirty jigs and they smell like spray paint still lol um is that a bad smell for the bass or what ? And how do I get rid of the smell I closed them up in a bass mafia box wich does not let air in it’s water proof so I opened them today and they still smell the same obviously were fresh when sent but I was just curious

Nothing to be concerned about.  Have you ever smelled freshly poured plastic worms?  They smell worse than spray paint.  The fish don't care.

Just get some of JJ’s Magic and that will take care of the smell!

Some skirt material has a strong smell to it. Baits I've tied with the colors that have a strong smell catch fish just as good as the ones that don't, the fish don't care.

You could always add a little more flavor to help cover it. Take some smelly jelly or megastrike scent and apply it pretty good on the skirts.

Another option is choosing a trailer option that is scented. IE. SK/Rage with coffee flavor, Keitech with squid scent, etc...

The odor obviously bothers you and you shouldn't be worrying about it. I paint my jig heads in lieu of powder coating with enamel and they have a paint odor until I bake them at 120 degrees for a few hours. You can't bake yours with skirts attached. I would wash them in dawn dish soap, rinse good with warm water and hang them on a wire to dry by the hook bend for a few days to air out. I do this with my hair jigs before fishing with them to get off any oils that tend to mat the hair together. You can use a hair drier on cool setting to dry the jigs if in a hurry to use them.

Just let them air out to get rid of the smell. Sometimes I get skirts that smell like gasoline. Charles at fishingskirts.com said it is a chemical they use in manufacturing the skirts. The y set them out to dry but sometimes not enough.

plastic is made from an oil i believe, but im not sure. I was wondering the same question. you would think the bass wouldn't like the smell, It seems like that doesn't bother them.
