So exciting news.  Yesterday I went to a local fishing store and Clio and purchased a new bait caster.  I had about a hundred bucks so I decided on a Accurist PT with 7 ball bearings with. 7ish gear ratio ( exact ratio and bearings escapes me because I’m at ).

I will put it on my recently purchased Berkley lighting rod( the orange one). Spooled with 30 lbs of power pro braid.   This will be my punching/heavy pitching/heavy T-Rig rod.

i have a Accurist spinning reel pti?

that I have used since 2012 which, so far it has been my favorite reel.

Of the reels I checked out the this shop this one this Accurist bait caster seemed like the best bang for my dollar.  I’m excited to try it Sunday.  I’ll get a pic later

It is a pretty cool reel for the price. Looks nice as well. I'm a big quantum guy, it seems like they are replacing the accurist with the icon but I could very well be wrong.

Congrats man baitcasting is a little difficult at first but it is definitely the way to go. Make sure to read up on how to properly adjust your reel it makes a huge difference, anyways good luck with your new reel

Theres a ton of people who talk bad about quantums. I had an energy pt a couple years ago and it was a great reel. Regret selling it honestly

Here is the old Accurist and new Accurist.  I guess we will see how the new one holds up.  I have been averaging 1-2 fishing trips a week.  I should have enough time on the water with by the end of the season. Definitely tell the difference between a $100 bait caster and $40  abu Black maxx ( so far the Black maxx has been fine) onlY issue now is I forgot to buy bigger diameter flouro line.  The biggest stuff I have on hand is 10lbs.  Guess it will work for now.  The weeds arnt that bad in most of the lakes yet.
