Black dog bait co lunker punker

So I got this bait from another forum for about $30 few years ago and I accidentally stumbled on a for sale post for similar bait at $150...

What is the story on this bait? Was it originally sold for that much? 

I didn’t use this bait because I didn’t think it would catch any bass. 

I’m now glad I didn’t use it. 

Does it have collector’s value? Or just an expensive swim bait? 

I cant seem to post a picture but it is about 6.5” long and it’s their big bass color wooden swim bait.

The woodies are considered better and demand outpaces supply so sometimes they go well above sticker.

If you have a wooden one it will be worth much more than if it's an injected bait. Personally, I'd fish it if it's a wooden bait. I've had the injected baits and they're way too much work to get to walk right.

At one point the wooden ones sold for $25-40 new and were easy to get, then they stopped making them for a bit and when production started back up there were subtle changes, a higher price, and more limited availability. Generally, it's the original or "OG" Punkers that carry a higher value as the newer ones have had serious QC issues, not to say there weren't at least a few bad OG Punkers. Size, color and condition are also a factor in value. Post a pic and I can confirm which generation yours is

The MSRP of the wooden punkers have also gone up.  On the Black Dog site they retail for $85-$125 depending on paint scheme.

The 8 inch are the ones in high demand.  The value of the smaller ones is trying to stay with the larger baits.  If you had an 8 you may get 150 but the smaller ones are around 100.

agreed with above the injected are no where close to how effective the wood ones are.  If you have Stripers around they absolutely destroy them so be careful if you throw it.

Not planning to sell it. Just wanted to know Whether I should use it or just leave it alone

i think I’m going to use it to catch a big one! But tie it to a “heavy” line because I don’t see me buying another if I lost it

Yeah, the 6" one measures 6.5 lol

The 8" ones are more valuable, but the 6" ones having been going for around $75 or so.  Check out Swimbait Underground if you want to learn more, but beware, it's easy to spend $$$$$$!

The 6" wood is my preferred model, you will tear them up on that thing
