Im looking to buy a Dobyns, most likely the champion, but I want it stronger in power than a St Croix Avid M/F, but slightly less powerful than the St Croix MH/F Avid. Does anyone know which model that would be? Im looking at the 7' or 7'3".

I only have experience with the Mojo bass rods in M power but I would probably say a 734 would fit that. It definitely has more back bone than a M power Mojo bass while still having a castable tip.

Dobyns rods are overrated by at least one power. My 4 power, heavy rated Dobyns are identical to a traditional MH. The length also changes the power slightly. My Champion XP 734 feels significantly stronger then my 704 even though it's only a 3"difference.

Which one do you like better? I was set no bigger than the 7ft, but everyone seems to like the 734. Im looking for one up from the StC Med, so not sure if both of those fit the bill.

I sure wish I could find these in person here in MI...

I've owned the M/F and MH/F Avid casting rods and sold them to switch to Dobyns.

The 734 is what you're looking for. It's the most versatile Dobyns rod, along with the Champ Extreme 744.

With 4th of July coming up, there should be some short 15% sales online.

All depends what you want it for. If I had to pick only one all around rod it would definitely be the 734c. I use my 704 mainly for treble hooks like rat L traps and smaller top waters.
