Super User slonezp Posted June 6, 2018 Super User Posted June 6, 2018 Got rid of my Tundra after 10 years and 200,000 miles. Was going to buy another one but I found a new leftover 2017 F250 XLT 6.2L that I worked out a sweet deal on . 15 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 6, 2018 Super User Posted June 6, 2018 I'll bet you like it. I switched to a Ford F250 this year after being a long time Chevy 2500 guy. It handles my 5th wheeler better than my Chevys did. 1 Quote
RenegadeBassin Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I'm on my second chevy but I'm really liking the looks of the new fords. Great looking truck. 1 Quote

Frisbie385 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Sweet truck! I currently have a Tundra and don't think I will ever get away from Toyota...... but if I did it would be for a new F-250 1 Quote
LadiMopar Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Congrats on the new wheels. ? (See even we Mopar folks can be civilized.... once in a while) 1 3 Quote

But, over the last 18 months or so, I dumped about $4k into the Tundra. That equals a years worth of car payments on a 10 year old truck. Ever since it turned 130k, it has been costing me money. I sure like the 1794 Edition which is what the dealership gave me as a loaner every time mine was in the shop. The Super Duty has great reputation and, as I stated earlier, I got a sweet deal. Toyota couldn't have even come close with pricing on a "comparable" model. This is a lot more truck for less money. 1 1 Quote

DINK WHISPERER Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 It's no GM, but nothing beats the feeling of getting that new ride in the driveway! Congrats 1 Quote

Congrats lol. My wife and I bought our first new car ever last year a 2017 Chevy Volt. It's been the most problematic vehicle we've ever had. It's been in the shop literally every other month since we've owned it. It was in the shop for 4 days after the first 3 days of ownership. The Chevrolet dealership's GM said, "This is the odd, this the least problematic vehicle Chevy makes." I said, "Whoa, if that's the case than I will never buy another Chevy." He said their trucks have a lot of problems. I asked if it was because of emissions standards being so strict and he said yes. Spoke to a Chevy dealer and he said they are all crap now, just throw away vehicles. I'm getting a sense that American vehicles are falling back into the mindset of built in obsolescence again because people get huge loans on new cars and just get new cars every 5 years. It's ridiculous. Won't be long before a new 1 ton truck is $100,000.......yeah, $100,000 for a dang truck....no way it costs $100,000 to make, that's for sure. Some homes cost $100,000. Btw....nice truck! I've always loved Ford Super Duties and owned 2 of them. Quote

Wow...I think the opposite...it's hard to find a truly bad model these days, IMO. Are there occasional lemons? You bet, but overall our cars are orders of magnitude better than the ones I grew up with. 100,000 miles was a big milestone then and right now, I can't remember the last vehicle I had that didn't sail right past that... @slonezp Great truck. We've migrated to Fords over time, and that's quite a move for a guy who wouldn't even look at a domestic car in the 80s, 90s and the first part of the 00s. 1 Quote

I was kind of referring to the tried-and-true 5.3 in the full-size trucks and their diesel motors as well. That is what I have used since I got my driver's license and never had a single issue out of them. I bought my wife a turbo Cruze and it has been very problematic as well. Quote
LadiMopar Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Okay all you Ford and GMC/Chevy folks just really need to come over to the dark side... Hubby was tried and true Ford man until he met me...now he wonders why he didn't make the switch to Mopar sooner. Both of our RAM 1500's are covered under the best warranty in the industry...999,999 miles or 2098 which ever comes first. I turned a wrench for a living in a galaxy that is now far,far away and it's comforting to know I'll probably never use that warranty [or at least not very often], but when I'm pushing daisies my grandson will still be driving my Laramie and be covered. All for less than the cost of one transmission. Come to the dark side...you know you want to! Quote

What’s funny is that the Volt was in the shop again as usual last week and I was given a loaner which was a 2019 Chevy 1500. Drove fine the 1st day, second day it wouldn’t start. Then it did. I told the dealership about it but was worried they’d blame me for something. They said no problem. But it that was a brand new 2019 Chevy with starting issues. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted June 7, 2018 Super User Posted June 7, 2018 I read that Ford is getting out of the car business. They will only be producing two cars after 2020. The Focus Active and Mustang. They will mostly be making suvs, crossovers and trucks. The article states that Ford loses money on cars like the Lincoln Continental and if they are going to stop producing them the other cars that share parts with the continental, like the Taurus, will also have to go. 1 Quote

Okay, I really thought you were yanking our chains with this, but it really is true. Not that it breaks my heart or anything, but for those with vehicles on the hit list it might be time to hoard parts. Quote

True enough, if we can trust the media to report things accurately. I think it's bad call, for a lot of reasons, but it is what it is. 6 minutes ago, LadiMopar said: Okay, I really thought you were yanking our chains with this, but it really is true.
