What Do You Take?

Keeping with the asking questions mode I'm in lately,

When fishing as a guest on a buddy's boat or as the non-boater in a tournament, How much and what gear would you take along. 

For me, the first thing I do is ask. I had someone from this site show up with one over a dozen! Luckily he left the majority of them back at the cabin. But I digress

The norm for me is three rods.\, a tackle bag that holds seven 3700 Series Plano boxes and has a roomy pocket on each end and a small cooler. If there's rain in the forecast, I'll bring rain gear otherwise, I have a poncho that folds up fairly small and fits into the bag.

Of the few guys that invite me aboard, they all willingly share tackle if I'm unfortunate enough to not have something with me.

If I fish a tourney as the non boater I bring 8 setups, and my tackle bag with 6 Plano's and packed full of plastics. 

 

It's probably overkill as by mid morning I'm normally down to 3 rods but I just can't help to not have other options in the lineup. You also never know how someone plans to fish if plan A they told you about doesn't work and in the back of the boat you must adjust to your boaters style

I usually bring 4 rods and my Daiwa backpack backed with a little bit of everything. Cranks, jigs, topwater, finesse stuff. Also good to bring some line, a decent amount of sun protection, and water.

I have a bag with 7 boxes, a small lunch bag that I put lunch, sun screen, keys, etc. PDF, 6 rods and rain gear if forecasted. 

 

I always ask what the plan is but that's for rigging the night before and then just go from there.

Big difference from going as a co angler in a tournament vs a day out with a buddy.  If I am going out with a buddy then I'll bring on average 8 rods and a Plano soft sided bag with 6 or 7 3700 boxes.  If I ever was to be a tournament co angler, I would cut that in half.

2-4 rods and a backpack with 4 3600 boxes and a few bags of plastics.

3 rods (1 spinning, 2 BC) Tackle Bag filled with some confidence baits, Drinks and Lunch with enough food to share and some gas money to give my host.

I usually take bottled water, diet sodas and iced teas.

 

I love my beer and whiskey but I never take any on a moving vehicle (car, boat, etc.) I save that for when I get home. It helps with the fishing stories. The taller my drink the bigger the catch gets.

3 rods, and my bag that holds around 4 planos and some plastics. I bring lunch for both of us and I fill up the boat with gas.

3-4 rods normally when I go with a buddy. Also a tackle bag that holds 5 3600 boxes and plastics. Lunch and drinks and that does it for me.

Usually 5 rods (4 baitcastes, 1 spinning).  I usually arrange my tackle as to not have to overpack the boat.  I bring all techniques, but not every color and size I might bring in my own boat.   I also carry 1/4 of the soft baits I usually do.  I ask about a cooler for snacks and drinks.   I will bring my little yeti with stuff if they are ok with that and ask what they like to drink (water, sports drink etc.).   I try not go overboard and always ask questions before we go.

No more than 6 rods, a Cabela's bag that holds up to 6 3700 Planos, and a gallon bag or two of plastics.
