But I Lhave to ask you CroakHunter, With there being little to no room on your deck, where do you stand???? I fish out of a 16' jon boat with a small 4x4 platform in the front. My rods aren't technically "on the deck" they are leaned on the deck with the butt of the rods on the bottom of the boat. I usually lean against a small pedestal seat or just stand on the platform. Lucky enough for me my friend I fish with runs the tiller handled gas motor and trolling motor so all I have to do is fish lol. I got it made. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 6, 2018 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2018 Ideally, I'll have 2-4 rods out, because that means I'm dialed in, but usually it's more like 10. Our lakes don't have big schools of bass or good offshore structure to fish, so most of my fishing is comprised of junk fishing and having to be prepared for whatever I may encounter. Quote
EGbassing Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 My entire arsenal is one baitcaster, although when I get home from the beach I'm buying my first spinning combo. Shimano Clarus + Pflueger President XT. Quote
Primus Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 It varies depending on time of the year , somewhere around 20 combos. Quote
Fishingmickey Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Since I kayak fish and carry fifteen combos. I probably need a intervention. Fishing a Hobie PA14, Nine rods on the milk crate, four rod holder Engel cooler and two in the horizontal storage on the Hobie. Yes I agree it is overkill Fishingmickey Quote
Way north bass guy Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I usually have about 18 rods in the box, about a 50/50 mix of spinning/casting, but usually anywhere from 2-8 rods on the deck. It all depends on the lake and species I’m after, there’s literally hundreds of lakes within an hour of my house and pretty much any type of water you could ask for, so every day is a new adventure that calls for completely different techniques from the day before. 1 Quote
Quarry Man Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 somewhere between 2 and three...hundred rods are usually on the deck of my 50' bass boat with a 900 HP engine. Super User new2BC4bass Posted June 8, 2018 Super User Posted June 8, 2018 My boat doesn't have a deck. This is the 4th year it hasn't been used. I fish with relation in a 14 foot dinghy when I visit Florida. No deck on it either. I have 2 rods when there that always have the same type lure on them...a spinnerbait and a weightless 10" ribbontail. One rod often has an F-11 Rapala. One a crankbait. I sent a frog rod down this year. Carried it, but weather was too cold for it to be of any use. Maybe next year. 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted June 9, 2018 Super User Posted June 9, 2018 I bring 5 in the kayak unless I'm doing a river float, in which case I'll bring 2 or 3. But which rods I bring depends entirely on which body of water I'm at, which may be any one of a variety of small natural lakes, impoundments, backwaters, bayous, gravel pits, and river sections that can be very different from each other in habitat, depth, cover, etc. Quote
