Looking for the big one Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Please can somebody help me out here. I ran out of space for pics probably a year ago and have just stopped posting pics since then, been really hating it lately so I've tried what other topics said about how to upload pics from a URL. I tried that and have been struggling for hours to get a pic up. I've started 3 new accounts on Postimage, Photobucket and another one but I must be stupid because they don't work. When I copy the URL for forums and put it into the "Upload from URL" space it just goes red and doesn't upload. Could somebody just give it to me step by step how they post pictures, I'm pretty desperate to show y'all some recent catches. Edit: I was able to post a pic yesterday and thought I'd gotten lucky or something and could now post more but tried again today and nope. ? Quote
Super User burrows Posted June 2, 2018 Super User Posted June 2, 2018 Just go to resize image.net and push the resize button then pick your picture from your phone and wait about 30 seconds and then your image pops out save it or copy it and then post it on here it automatically resizes your photo. http://resizeimage.net/ Quote
kenmitch Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 You can always just click the drop down next to your name and select my attachments and delete old photos. This image is from photobucket. I did a quick experiment to see if it would work and it did. All I did was drop the image url in the text body skipping the insert media option. URL=http://s664.photobucket.com/user/ken_mitch/media/Fishing/Make%20room.jpg.html] I removed the [ from the beginning of the hyperlink so it was visible. [/URL] 1 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted June 2, 2018 Super User Posted June 2, 2018 This ^^^^ You don't upload from any host image website just copy and paste the link start from "Https://" no CODE no TAG on that link, (some website use code "IMG" instead of "URL" remove all those.) 1 Quote

Looking for the big one Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Well I use IPhone and generally get decent pictures but what I mean is how do I get the picture in the post to not be small and pixel-y? Quote

Okay let me try your link From postimage 1. first click share to pop up link to your picture 2. Click on copy Direct link (marked) then in your post just paste where you want your picture to be. 1 Quote
Glaucus Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 So much easier to just upload to ImageShack and copy and paste from there. Clear, large photos in seconds. Nobody listens when I recommend it though. Quote
Looking for the big one Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Okay thx everybody, I was using the thumbnail link for forums not the direct link. This is why I love Bassresource, loads of helpful people. 3 Quote

This link lists 11 free hosting sites...but I don't see why ImageShack is included since free is only for 30 days. https://www.lifewire.com/free-image-hosting-sites-3486329 Have you tried Imgur? It appears to be a true free site. I need to learn how to download images off my Android phone to a free website so I can post the occasional picture. Actually I suppose learning to downloaa pics from my phone to my laptop would be even better. Quote

For more uploading space and extra perks, it costs. However, it's all I use and I have never run out of space. Quote

No idea, let me look into it. I have 2 accounts. One is several years old and the other is a year old. Use both and don't pay anything. 4 minutes ago, new2BC4bass said: https://imageshack.us/faq ImageShack says 30 day free trial. How do you get a lifetime free account? It's right there, brother, as I said. It's free unless you want more uploading space and extra perks. As far as a standard account, it's free. Does ImageShack cost anything? A subscription is required to have full access to all the features ImageShack has to offer. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted June 3, 2018 Super User Posted June 3, 2018 @GlaucusI would like to play a little bit of devil advocate here. First of all Imageshack required you to login, Postimage is not. Secondly there is bandwidth limit for free user, I'm not sure 10GB can get you how many view for hot link(link to direct image). Postimage is easy and simple but you surrender the right of whatever you upload there, but again you can choose to have image for such and such time. All of the free image host website CAN change their policy and start charging for uploading image. The result you have to pay or you got broken link where ppl cannot see any of your image (happened with photo bucket not long ago) im not a fan of any image hosting website. My main source of image is Facebook and here @ BR. I created Facebook account just to be my keepsake fishing photo in the meantime share(show off) with my friends and family around the world. Facebook is huge and a chance of them to turn around and bite you in the bottom is slim to none. Quote

Facebook is huge and a chance of them to turn around and bite you in the bottom is slim to none. I use a Galaxy phone so I'm a google guy. My phone will automatically upload a backup of my photos to my google account as long as I have cell reception or back on wifi. As far as I know they don't have any limits on bandwidth and it seems much easier as all I have to do is right click and select copy image address and then drop the link here. I really do like the look of this Bass I caught on my birthday. I'm hoping to catch her again in the future after she packs on a few more pounds....Was 5.12lbs when caught and she does have a birthmark to help ID her. Quote
