FloridaBass Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Have a spot in Ft. Lauderdale which constantly produces 5 to even 6lb giant peacocks, although they are all caught on live shiners and smaller bluegill if we can get them. The issue here is I want to start fishing artificial more often as my nearest bait shop is around 20 minutes north from the spot and I live right next to the spot as well, making a 40 minute round trip essentially. I would also like to say that I've gotten the cops called on me once for fishing there (residential lake) but have not been in trouble recently, and if I need to move quick the heavy livewell bucket we use doesn't help. Issue is these fish are pressured and smart, and there is no fooling them with staple peacock lures with bright colors as the water is CRYSTAL clear. Any suggestions? Quote
Soflobassing Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Match the hatch man Match the hatch. If its crystal clear water I would invest in some livetarget swimbaits and crankbaits. They are very lifelike and always work in the clearest conditions. Hope this helps Quote

MikeLelio Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I just moved to south Florida 2 months ago, living in Boca Raton and I have been looking for clear water lakes to catch peacocks from. There's an endless abundance of spots to fish with water that's murky and muddy, but I want to find a clear water option. Could anyone recommend a spot for me? -Thanks Quote
