Falcon rods ???

Anybody using these? I was at walmart the other day and saw some for just under 100 bucks that felt really good in my hand, they were Jason Christie Rods and I was really pleased to see a big ole MADE IN THE USA on them. Almost brought one home but didn't. What's the deal with them? I've never heard of them before.

Falcon makes great rods. I have a falcon Bucoo sr and it's one of my favorite. They are really light and like you said feel good in the hand. Hardly anyone talks about them but they are definitely worth $100

Falcon rods have been around along time. I have never tried one but they are supposed to be good rods from what I have heard about them. It is tough to stand out with so much competition in the rod market.

I'm a falcon junkie but I'm not a fan of the Christie rods do to the non micro guides.  Bucoo micros are good rods for the money but the Christie rods I don't care for.

 

 And yes, I've owned and fished every rod in the  Christie series as well as most if not all of the bucoo micro's casting and spinning.

I'm not familiar with that specific rod, but I've fished Falcon Caras for years and I've always really liked them.

I had a 6'6 bucoo spinning rod, it was the most versatile rod ive ever had. It could throw anything from ned rigs to texas rigs. My buddy accidently broke it, rip

I missed a good deal on a Falcon rod at Cabela's several months ago. It just felt so... perfect to me, especially for the price, $89.99. Unfortunately I didn't have the money for it atm so I had to let it go. Now they don't carry it anymore. Still kicking myself but I think I made the right choice financially.

Falcon makes very good very underrated rods. One thing to keep in mind is most of the actions are slightly slower than other brands so if you are a guy who likes a super fast tip most models will not be what you are looking for.

Agree.  I don't have any newer models, but have several Falcons...Experts, Originals and a Cara.  All have a nice parabolic bend.  My PB was on a 7' MH Original.  My Hammer rods have a similar bend.

Falcon rods are fantastic. Never used the Jason Christie ones though. Love my caras, lowriders, and even my bucoo sr. They also have great customer support.

The ones I was looking at were spinning rods. I think I may pick one up this weekend and try it out. My wife has agreed to all this. She even ordered my shimano zodias for me without me even knowing It. I tell you what, it's an awesome thing when your wife is your fishing buddy. The woman will flat put me to shame sometimes when it comes to catching them.

Falcon makes a nice rod, and nearly bullet proof.  I have a 3 or 4 of them in various stages of being stripped down so I could rebuild them, but my God, are those things tough to strip.  The medium light and medium power moderate action rods are great for cranking!

 

One of these days I'll get motivated enough to finish stripping those rods to breath some new life into them.  They'll make some excellent rods as my kids graduate from their little UL rigs into bass gear.

I have no experience with that rod but do have 5 Falcons.  I have 4 low riders and 1 cara.  I don't have reels on 2 of the low riders because my fishing partner and I got such a good deal we bought 20 of them.

My Jason Christie 6'8" MHF casting is my go to jerkbait rod.

I picked it up at Walmart last year for 35 dollars,Found another one this year for 25.00

I'm looking at the Bucoo Sr casting, 7'3 MH.  I believe they call it "moderate fast" action. It looks good on paper, but since there is no standard on power and action, I want to see the rod in person.  But... I CANT FIND THEM!  Who has the insider info on a place that carries Falcon and actually have them on stock?  Struck out at field and stream and gander.  It's 75 miles to Cabela's (online says that location is out of stock anyway) and BPS is 3 hours+.  

 

Zip code is 15601 of anyone has any suggestions.

I definitely would recommend them. The original Bucoo line was my first nice rod I purchased and I still use it today

You must have not really like him if you bought a new shovel and put a patio in the back yard, just cause he broke your rod...

Academy Sports carries Falcon Rods... What are you wanting to use the rod for..??? Throwing crank baits, a worm rod, Jig rod, spinner-bait rod..???  I have 6 of the Falcon Buco Sr. and have used them for years. I run KastKing Assassins reels on them and with a full spool of line and 3/8-1/2oz crank-bait tied on it still weights 12.5-13.0 oz. You can cast 1/4 crank-bait with this set up do to the reels castibility and how well the Falcon rod loads up.

 

You will be hard press to find a rod made of quality parts that's as light, feel good in your hand, sensitive, with a variety of powers and actions to fit many baits/style of fishing.  I run my crank baits on 7' medium action Fast tip. Worm rod is 7' MH with Fast tip and Spinner-bait/soft swim bait 7' medium action and medium tip.. I actually replacing my 4 Falcon crank-bait rods with KastKings Speed Damon Pro S-Blend crank bait rods.   Not because there's anything wrong with the Falcons (Used for years) But the KastKing's are a composite Glass/Graphite blend.

Someone please tell me what Walmarts is selling Falcon's for $16-$20...lol I'll be there buying all they have.... The Buco Sr. at Academy are $99-$109

I picked up an SR at TackleWarehouse for $84 during the July 4th sale. I don't have it yet though. A lot of people say it's one the best $100 rods around.

I'm worried I'm not going to like the guides though since I'm used to Micro guides. But then again I read reviews on the Micro series that said the guides were chintzy and damaged easily ?‍♂️

I think that 6'8" Christie rod is going to be my next stick. I almost pulled the trigger from TW while watching fireworks. Make sure you look over the rod really carefully if buying from Walmart. You ever see that old luggage commercial with the gorilla jumping up and down on a suitcase?

I picked up 3 of them from Walmart this spring when they were on clearance for $35 apiece. I like them alot.

Unfortunately, no academy stores in my area.

 

I'll be pairing it to a reel with 15# fluoro.  Most lures 3/8-1/2 oz.  Jigs, chatterbaits, lipless cranks, maybe even the occasional Texas rig.  

 

I've had a few people recommend the 7'4 H, saying the 7'3 MH is more of a deep cranking rod.  Thoughts?
