Spinning Rod Recommendations Under $100

Hi All, I'm looking for some Spinning rod recommendations under $100, preferably closer to the $50 price point.  I've been using bait casters since I was a kid, but have always had 1 spinning rod, but rarely used it.  Currently I have a 2 piece Shakespeare from Walmart.  I would like to replace that with something that I could use for some light/fineness bass fishing and also crappie.  Will be heading to Arkansas with my son for his boy scout camp this year, and thought it would be good to have a better spinning rod.   I'm thinking something in between 6-7' probably, ML power, a fast action, and 1 piece design.

I have a 6'6 Lews Laser SG1 ML that I'm quite fond of.

In the $50 price range, a great rod would be the Berkley 

Lightning Rod Shock. Really good rod.

 

They make 6'6", 7', and 7'6" 1-piece ML rods.

 

Scratch the 6'6", it's a 2-piece.

Look at the BPS and Cabelas brand rods. I have aGander Mountain 6-6ml spinning rod that is almost as good as my St. Croix Avids. Best thing as I got it on clearance for$20 and it is better than any spinning rod under $175 I find on the shelf.

I have a 6'6" medium Berkley lightning rod ( not shock series ) that I believe is good for the price tag of $40 bucks. They make them in 6' and 6'6" medium light in 1 and 2 piece, I would suggest checking them out.

This is the route I would go-- they have good deals on combos under 100. The ML Cabela's Tourney Trail + pflueger reel spinning combo is a good buy, and on sale online right now for $60.

Walmart has a Lews IM8 Speed Stick for $40. They are Hank Parker series and are technique specific. I have 3 of them, 2 bait casting and 1 spinning. Light and sensitive. Great rods for the price.

I got the Cabela's XML spinning rod 6' L/F a couple weeks ago and can't stop putting it down. $99 (on sale now) with a lifetime warranty.

I just got the Lew’s Mach II Metal Speed Spin combo from Dick’s for $119 shipped. Hadn’t got to fish it a lot yet but I think I’m really going to like it. There are some solid deals out there on combos if you look.

If you have a dicks nearby check out the Lew's Carbon Fire.  Nice rod with Winn grips.  Go on sale for $50 occasionally.

You can get a Berkley Heritage spinning rod from FFO right now for $36 plus shipping in a 6' 9" ML/F that would work well for bass and some crappie fishing. My dad has a Heritage rod and likes it really well and they're normally a $60 rod. If you wanted, they have a buy one get one 50% off so you could get one ML and a second in a M and have a pair of them for about what one would normally cost.

See if you can find the fenwick silver hawk on sale at cabelas, usually around $60. Really nice rod for the sale price

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.  

 

The Lew's Laser MG1 sounds nice and also the Lew's Speed Stick at Walmart sounds nice especially for the price.  I will have to see if I can find any of these locally.  

 

I used to have several of the older Berkley Lighting Rods, IM6 rods with the foam handles.  I will look at the new ones.  

 

I will head into Bass Pro soon as well.
