What's your favorite braid?

I've only tried one type of braid and did not like very much. What is your favorite braid and why?

Follow up question, what lb test due you gravitate to?

I use regular Tuf Line Supercast 30lb on my top water bait caster just so I can drag horny toads through slop easily and so there isn't any give in the line to my other top water baits.  It's also coated so it doesn't tangle in my top water treble hooks.  When that done I will string up a spool of 40lb Power Pro I have waiting.  I also use the Tuf Line because I got it for free with a promotion they had a couple years ago.

 

I use Power Pro Super Slick 8 on my spinning rod with a hybrid leader.  Just started using that this past year and it seems to be really manageable on spinning tackle although it's lost some of its color and isn't as light green as it was when I got it.

Spinning or casting?

I like kastking and daiwa j-braid x4. 50 or 65 pound test for heavy vegetation, spinning gear and frogs. Anything else I use fluoro, mono, or copolymer.

I use power pro and never had a problem with it. Just the standard line. Done the maxx cuatro before wasnt worth the extra money to me.

Power Pro Spectra is absolutely my favorite. I really only use braid on punch/frog rods so 65#

Sufix 832. 40lb for all-purpose, 30lb high vis on topwater/wacky worm combo, 50lb on froggin and flippin set up.

Power Pro 50 lb Green for reaction stuff and high his Yellow for line watching techniques.  Power Pro 30 lb for crankbaits and top water treble lures.

 

Have used Daiwa J Braid 4 Strand a bit in 50 lb and like it just as much.  I always use a leader regardess of the lure.

I use Powerpro.  I have some 832 and like it as well.

I have 30# on everything but my frogging setup which I also use for big swimbaits, that's 65#.

I have tried Suffix, Spiderwire, power pro, and Berkley fire line.  I use powerpro 65 lb on my BC and fireline 8 lb on spinning.  Have not tried smaller powerpro on spinners or larger fire line.  Fireline will stain your fingers at first.  I do use braid almost 100 per cent. +/- leader.

I've used a bunch of the maxcuatro lately because I got a bunch of free spools, I like it in 40-50lb test around grass, it's a low carrier count braid (less strands) so it's more abrasive and cuts through grass better.  For a more all around braid with a higher carrier count I like suffix 832, use it in sizes 10-50lbs.  Frogging, flipping and punching is done with 60lb braid, for that I prefer sunline fx2.

 

Ive used a lot of different ones, these are just what I've settled on for my style of fishing and preferences.

PowerPro and Sufix 832 - both are easy to find everywhere and usually on sale.  Haven't found anything bad about them that would make me want to try something else, and the other superlines I have tried (Slick8, Nanofil), I didn't care for.

I keep trying other brands, and many are OK, but I'm with you here.  If I had to pick one braid (which would be silly), I'd go to Suffix 832.

 

I agree with your picks on line weight as well, and I bump up to 65# for most of my pike/musky rigs.

832. i do not trust power pro after i saw a friend snap 30lb on a back lash... granted this guy has not idea what he is doing but 30lb power pro should not snap like that in my opinion...
