Jroc118 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 I just recently picked up a 7’1” MF Mojo Bass spinning rod as an upgrade. I’ve been using a Pfleuger 6930 for the past year and was looking for some was thinking about changing it out as well. This is my all purpose spinning setup that I use when walking the banks and floating the river. I also want to get a second set to take with me so I’m not always switching lures. Would you all recommend the same setup or something slightly different. Thanks. Quote
Beetlebz Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 During the last round of eBay sales a couple months ago I will not picking up a Shimano Sahara on an Impulse buy because it was super cheap. I gotta say I absolutely love it. Casts well, manages line really well. I have been switching to all Daiwa stuff lately but that one is there to stay. Quote
Jroc118 Posted May 30, 2018 Author Posted May 30, 2018 Thanks. I’m going to go check out the BG. I have a Penn Battle II 3000 that’s on an inshore road that I take to FL. Would that be too big/heavy for the mojo rod I just purchased? Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted May 30, 2018 Super User Posted May 30, 2018 What's wrong with the President? oe Quote
LCG Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Reel: I like Pflueger and Daiwa. President xt is nice as is the new tatula. Second set up: have you given any thought to a baitcaster? A 7' MH baitcasting rod would make a pretty versatile combo. Quote
Jroc118 Posted May 30, 2018 Author Posted May 30, 2018 Nothing wrong with the president. Just curious if there is something better out there. I’ve meased around with baitcasters in the past, I just never put the time in to get proficient with it. Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted May 31, 2018 Super User Posted May 31, 2018 Check out the Pflueger Supreme reels. I fish a lot of Presidents ( between myself and my wife) and really like them as all around reliable workhorses. She added a Supreme when we purchased her Dobyns Sierra 705 SA spinning rod. It is her frog rod. That reel matched it very well and is silky smooth. I think it is much smoother than her Presidents or her Shimano Symetre she uses on her jig rod. Quote
Junger Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I use a Penn Battle II 3000 on my MH/XF 7'3 jig rod with 40lb J-Braid X4, caught a lot of LMB on it in the pads/weeds, it'll work fine. Quote
