I'm looking for a new crankbait rod that's between 7'10" to 8' in length. Something I would throw 6XD's mostly on, maybe an 8XD. Only rod I found in that category was the Powell Endurance rods but never had a Powell rod so unsure if they're good or not.

If $150 is the top of your budget check out the Irod Genesis II rods. The model I would look at is this:

IRG7113CC “Fred’s Crank Launcher.

All of the Irod Genesis rods deliver exactly what they say they were designed to do.

I do not own that model but do own several of their rods and love them.

Another option is an Ike Delay Series rod from Abu Garcia. That model would be the  IKECW710-6

That should run you about $150 also. Again I do not fish with this rod but do fish with his 6'4" delay series jerkbait rod and love it.

Lastly Powell offers their Max3D series rods for $119 right now. Go to their website at

I do not own this one ( I guess you can see I do not fish deep cranks) but do own their Max model 683C ( pre Max3D series upgrade). That rod is the most versatile rod I own ( I usually carry at least 12 baitcasters on my boat at anytime).  I use it for texas rigs, jigs, and lots more, but it could handle a ton of other stuff too.

You may not be familiar with any of these brands, but I have friends that fish with all of them just like myself. My wife also fishes with rods from these manufacturers.

The Powell endurance rods are freaking sweet I just bought a cranking glass composite and they are extremely sensitive and have a perfect ? parabolic bend but not noodley feeling at all, I definitely recommend the new endurance series. Try em I bet you’ll like em!
