Just want to catch some fish.

Hey BR, I’m from Lake Harding Alabama, and I’m stuck in one fishing spot, due to my mode of transportation being closeminded to new spots. I’m a bank fisherman, and I don’t catch fish often. I try worms, fake worms, fish, fake fish, and mannnny other types of lures,baits etc. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, or if it’s just my spot. I fish in a cove, right next to a boat ramp on a fishing pier. Any species bigger than two pounds works. Help?

I would try a Ned rig. If there are any bass in the area, you should be able to catch a few.

First of all, WELCOME aboard! You should be able to find a wealth of information here to help you out. Personally, I would start out with a stick-type bait, such as the venerable Senko in 4" & 5" sizes. Wacky rig them on your spinning rod using a 1/0 circle hook in the middle of the worm.

 

Cast it out and let it sink to the bottom. Twitch it back with frequent pauses. Fan cast the location you are locked into. You will get bit - eventually. Good luck out there!

Sounds like your just wanting to catch any fish of size. If that's the case, use anything available to you to catch a small bluegill or sunperch then use it as bait. You can let it swim around weightless or add weight (6-12 inches away from the hook) to keep it in a general area and away from potential snags. Throw on a bobber to gain even more control. When I was young and limited to fishing only a small strip of heavily pressured bank this was my go-to tactic for just catching a fish. Fair warning, this has the potential to catch almost anything that swims.

Just let a senko fall, it does the work for you.  No bite, drop it somewhere else.

Get a topo map...buy a kayak or maybe a quality inflatable...one of the lakes I fish some use bicycles...to get around...right now you have a tough assignment...
