Question about spare fishing rods

Hey BR community, I have a question pertaining to how many spare fishing rods you can have in the boat at one time. To my knowledge, you can have as many spare rods in the boat as you wish as long as you don't exceed "two" active "lines" in the water. My family members seem to disagree and claim that you can only have up to two fishing rods "period", per fishing license. If someone could clear this up for me that would be great. Btw I live in NH and would fall under the NH Fish and Game's level of jurisdiction.

Each state is different, some limit the number of rods one can fish at a time and the number of lures and/or hooks per rod. I am not aware of any state that limits the number of rods you can have onboard. Check with the state or designated agency. I see all sorts of misinformation online and elsewhere, not sure where folks come up with some of this stuff.

Never heard of any limits on the number of rods you can have on your boat.

 

Only thing that would limit the count is the amount of storage space on your boat.

 

But your question is flawed.

 

YOU NEVER HAVE ENOUGH RODS, ON OR OFF THE BOAT!!!!

Your state regulations do not mention a limit on the number of rods you may have in your possession.  They do state that you may fish with two lines and that a line may have up to two hooks.

two lines actively fishing, not limiting the number of rods you possess. Also, you can still fish lures like jerk baits that have three treble hooks.

I live in Ontario, Canada and we have some of the strictest regulations. We can have as many rods as you like but can only fish one line at a time unless in a boat in the great lakes, then you can have more lines. Seriously doubt there is any restrictions on how many rods you can have. You can always call your local DNR or whatever it's called and verify.

I lived and fished in NH for many years. Have as many rods in the boat as you want, just don't have more than two lines in the water. Just be super careful of the lead ban.

You can have 100 rods, as long as no more than two are in the water. Kansas has identical regulations.
