Quarry Man Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 My friend and I have been fishing our lake this weekend without much luck. It is located in northeastern PA and we usually catch lots of fish near the lily pads and along the docks. 75% of the lake has docks and then 10% rocky shoreline and 15% lilly pads. We caught a few bass on flukes near docks, nothing in the lily pads probably because they are dead, and a few on spinnerbaits and keitechs shallow. We could see beds, but only saw one fish that may have been spawning. On a nearby lake i caught a bass in 1' of water on a wacky rod that was full of eggs. I am planning on throwing a nose hooked fluke on a drop shot and covering water that is a bit offshore from the docks, a spinnerbait, and flipping a mini craw and 1/4 tungsten to the docks. what else should i be throwing? it is drizzling and cloudy but the temp is high 60s to 70s today and tomorrow. Yesterday we caught the fish and it was 80 and sunny Quote
BubbaBassin’ Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Can’t go wrong with a wacky rigged trick worm. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Drop shot something small and just twitch the rod tip without reeling in. Put on enough weight so the wind/current doesn't move it. Just leave the plastic out there for 1-2 minutes, almost like bait fishing, barely moving the rod tip every 10 seconds or so. Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 29, 2018 Super User Posted May 29, 2018 Small lake with the majority of spawning water located at the west side and northwest end. The swim beach looks like a good area for spawners depending on prevailing wind direction. The small point just north of the swim beach should hold a few staging bass. The middle area has a good looking shelf with shallow flat that also could hold a few spawners, good looking summer area. To the right of the flat in the narrow area you see a underwater finger 5'-7' that should hold a few larger size bass and another similar finger to the left near the deep water basin area. Nail weight worms, Senko's, drop or slip shot soft plastics and jigs should all work. Slow down and enjoy your outing. Tom 3 Quote

I only fish a few small bodies of water and this is the only one with a decent graph. I am trying to learn how to interpret these maps in a sense of knowing where to find fish. 3 hours ago, blckshirt98 said: Drop shot something small and just twitch the rod tip without reeling in. BTW, what is a finger? 7 hours ago, FishingNoob said: Can’t go wrong with a wacky rigged trick worm. this usually works great in the summer. that is how i caught an 8.5 lb bass on this lake. I caught a 2.53 lb bass at 5:20 on a spinnerbait along the lily pads, a 2.5 lber in the middle of the channel on a spinnerbait, one on a drop shot fluke, three on tubes under docks, none on the seiko, one on a regular fluke, got followed by pike on spinnerbait and keitech with no results. Super User WRB Posted May 30, 2018 Super User Posted May 30, 2018 Finger is a small under point. Good looking small lake with well defined structure elements. Tom 1 Quote

Tom There are tons of docks as well. Very few people really fish this lake hard. My friend and I are the only ones fishing from a boat on most days. The only problem is the amount of pleasure boaters on the lake. Quote
FCPhil Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 If their are bluegill around try a topwater walking bait by the bank. In my experience there is something about walking lures that really work around the spawn/post-spawn and bluegills. I’ll throw stickbaits, jigs, swimbaits, etc to no avail but something about the erratic splashing on the surface triggers the bite. Quote
