I'm primarily a bank fisher though I do jump a boat occasionally and am looking to invest in a Kayak for next season. However the bank is my usual. So I always use a packed back pack rather than walking with a tackle box. I'll bring a box to leave in the car and put in several lure boxes with lures, hooks etc... and packs of plastics, line and pretty much whatever else I might need.

This allows me a lot of freedom. I constantly see people fishing banks using boxes and how inconvenient they seem.

Who else uses a Back Pack when fishing?

I use a backpack and fill it with Plano boxes.

I'm with you--I used to carry a tacklebox full of heavy stuff and would only use three or four lures each trip.  Wised up, now I pack a bookbag with a plano box of jigs, a few packs of soft plastics (and hooks/sinkers), my pliers, scale/measuring tape, and a headlamp.  EZ GAME.

I was only somewhat serious. I was playing on the bag vs boxes title. I actually use a laptop bag with a single Plano box. All the little compartments are great.

lol... I use an actual back pack. I carry 3 Plano boxes of varying size with lures etc...

Bank life... The struggle is real...

Back pack is the best I have used so far. Usually have two Plano 3600 thin boxes. One plastics one lures and jigs. A double sided Plano box for terminal tackle. Side compartments for line, scale, tools, etc. Plenty of room for water, food, sunscreen.

Tackle boxes a pain to carry and tip over. Shoulder bags better but I like to keep Plano boxes flat for the plastics. I do have a sling bag that works well for walking through rivers.

I ought a tackle backpack. They are not that expensive and includes several 3600 or 3700 boxes. It is nicer than using a regular back pack because it has a dedicated section that fits the hard boxes perfectly and has pockets in the right place.

I looked at a couple today. I might invest in one. They're super organized...

It's always best to bring a friend to talk you out of buying more than you went for :)

Very true... My buddy filled a decent sized Plano with weighted jigs, pig tails and other plastics from there today. I ran to the mall with the wife and somehow Dick's kidnapped me and forced me to buy a reel and a couple chatters... :D

I use the nomad book bag and so far love it. Think a regular book bag would of covered it, but the wife bought it as a present. I posted a pic in another thread where I used the built in flashlight the other night on it.

I bought mine from tackle warehouse, 59 dollars. Got 4 flat boxes in a dedicated section, A nice hard bottom that allows it to stand up on the ground and plenty of storage. Nice quality too. It is big enough that you can pack enough gear in it for an extended day on the water without having to worry about trekking back to the car for stuff.

I use a drawstring back sack when bank fishing. Pliers, snips, travel size sunscreen, first aid kit, Plano box filled with hooks, weights, etc, couple of packs of soft plastics and some lures all fit in it. I can wear it while walking and casting.

Lately I have been wearing my Buck Multi-tool at my hip so it eliminates the need to carry the pliers and snips in the back sack. Makes it even lighter.

I use this one most of the time. Has lots of pockets and pouches.

Buy the kayak.  You won't have to carry much more gear, because you can't.  But you can explore more and really pick apart areas.

I'm hoping to for next season or at the end of this one for the bargains...

I use a backpack stuffed with Plano boxes. Simple, comfortable, and convenient.

The only good thing about a tackle box from the shore is that it can double as a seat.
