On the water: Parents letting their kids throw rocks in the vicinity of where I'm fishing. The lack of awareness is astounding.

Fishing videos: "Do you guys see that, right over there? You see that bass?" No, Scott, we can't - because you've got polarized sunglasses on and we don't.

In general: It's a fishing rod, not a fishing pole.

Other: It's a poe-tay-toe, not a puh-tay-tuh.

Videos shot with a chest cam. I’m not sure why anybody thinks that watching someone’s hands cranking a reel makes a good video but don’t they have editing software to cut that stuff out?

Those are some goods ones. Here's 2 more;

1. The false belief that big bass are "too strong" for spinning reels. This has to be one of the biggest fallacies in bass fishing. I can tell you from my experience that a quality size 4000 spinning reel can handle trophy sized bass and land fish much more powerful than any largemouth bass alive( big snook, muskie over 40", juvenile tarpon in the 10-30 pound class, jack crevalle, etc).

2. Jet skiers, fishermen on boats, and pleasure boaters than get too close to land based fishermen.

People that weigh in 1 minute late to tournies, beat me by 3 ounces and cost me $250.

As John Geirach said, "There are two groups of anglers, your group and the +×÷holes."

My pet peeves are jet skiers not seeing kayaks, and people who litter, especially line and styrofoam.

after returning to fishing after a decade hiatus, all my fav spots are not posted with no fishing signs, so i can't go there anymore.

lots people go there anyhow, but i just can't bring myself to do it.

All of the above are good. My latest peeve is watching all the videos of the newest, greatest baits. I see them gliding thru weeds, brush, bouncing over rocks, logs, never getting caught, hung up, or covered in weeds. I'd love to see them try it on the places I fish.

Another one of mine is ramp hogs. They sit on the ramp setting up their boat, making everyone wait. These are the same kind of people that park in the handicap spots when their not handicapped.

There's a small lake near me where people for some reason think it's Ok to set up chairs and fish ON the RAMP. :angry7:

I fish from a kayak and this has happened a lot recently but 1. When I’m in my kayak and everyone around me has a bass boat so they make fun of me and say I need a bigger boat but then I out fish them ? and 2. After they all see me catching fish all the bass boats hurry over and start casting lines where I am and everyone is in the same spot with no respect for me

-Feeling a "bite", procede to execute a hookset so artisticly perfect that a picture of it should be in exibition on the Louvre...  just to find out it was a tree branch!

-Wind!!!!

-Taking that ridiculous expensive new bait from the package, tie it to your line, cut the "tag", trow the ridiculous expensive new bait to the water next to the boat, pick up the rod and go for the cast...  just to find out that you just cutted the main line instead of the tag by mistake and your ridiculous expensive new bait is now resting forever in peace on the bottom of the lake (yep...  already did this one twice...).

-Wind tunnel type of wind!!!!

-Jet skiers that even in a 20 000 acre lake insist to pass right were you´re fishing.

-Driving a convertible during a storm type of wind!!!!

-That heart braking first scrach on your shiny new reel!

-Sky diving during a tornado type of wind!

-Hooking in to what you think is the biggest bass of the lake, maybe even biggest bass of the universe, and find out it´s just a d**n catfish...

-End of the world type of wind!!!

-Snagging your lure on a tree behind you when you´re casting and just watch your reel explode in to the mother of all backlashes!!!!!

-Any type of wind apart from a gentle breeze!!!!

-etc etc etc...

1. Litter

2. Jet skis

3. Threads about pet peeves.

4. Cars that feel the need to beep or yell out the window when you're bank fishing.

Not catching fish is probably my biggest fishing related one.

My peeve involves posts on rods. Some one asks a question about brand A vs. brand B and inevitably a fanboy (or prostaffer) of brand C jumps in to tell them their favorite is what they really need.

My biggest is the people  who back down the ramp and they are not prepared to launch . They get out ,   unhook the transom straps  , remove the motor brace , dig out the life jackets , put sun screen on little ones ....on Memorial day weekend with a dozen boats waiting and then the next person repeats it .

I hear ya ~

I will approach them slowly and politely inform them what 'ramp etiquette' is.

Often times I only need to direct their attention to the giant sign at the ramp which usually spells it all out rather well.

Also pointing out the location and purpose of the designated "Staging Area" can be helpful.

Of course, all this goes right out the window when I'm on the water waiting to pull the boat while Scuppy McScupperson is trying to figure out where he put the boat plug.

Then I have to really work very hard to resist what seems like a very instinctual urge to yell

"C'Mon Man !"

I'll admit to have failing a few times.

This is pretty high on my list also.  The only thing I dislike more is guys that insist on riding by at 1/4 throttle.  Either get on plane or idle.

What is up with that? Happens to me as well. Never understood it.

My pet peeve is conscientious stupidity (knowing better but doing it anyway) while fishing boating or just life in general.

People using the boat ramp for non boating activities.

My home lake is big with eagle and osprey watching.

One time last year, there was a lady parked right in front of the boat ramp, filming an osprey eating a fish.

I politely asked her to move, so I could launch the boat.

I was told she was not going anywhere, until the osprey was done.

I walked down the ramp and gently coaxed the osprey to move along.

The lady was screaming at me as she drove away. Still wonder if I am on film, scaring away an osprey.

Line left in the water drives me absolutely beserk, pleasure boaters cutting between me and the bank when there's a mile of open water behind me, white bass during a tournament will hit your lure Iike a tank and have you hollering at your partner "GET THE NET" then you gotta figure out how to get the trebles out of them feisty dudes.

this is my biggest peeve of all time.........then to find out that someone forgot the keys to the boat that's floating around the ramp after all that......

All of the above are true. I fish with a friend who will not change his line! He uses spinning reels only, and his line is ancient, dry, and comes off his reel in big coils. I've told him too many times now. This season its on him. When he hooks a good bass and his line breaks I'm not saying anything. Well, Might call him a cheapskate

Amateur instructional video makers on Youtube who intro every single video with "hi guys" and then proceed to throw in "guys" "hey guys" "look guys" "what I mean guys" and any other form of "guys" to address their audience over and over and over.

That and taking too long to get to the actual meat of the video. Glenn does a great job of not wasting time on what isn't necessary. We liven an age of the 1 minute attention span, some would do well to remember we are all ADD now. lol
