Ha! The bait monkey will out live us all! You're grandsons will never understand how you could catch a bass with that antiquated tackle. oe 1 Quote

I am at a point where I have discovered which lures work best in my waters and how to fish them effectively. I a considering selling off my excess gear and rods. I have always be a fan of quality over quantity, so I have a few really nice setups that can stay. What does everyone think about this idea? If you have done this, how has it worked out and what advice d you have? Read some Marx next and send me all your "extra stuff"... 2 Quote
ratherbfishin1 Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Less tackle... Less rods... Nah, not for me I do feel like the ridiculous amount of colors of everything is quite overrated, but I mean KVD does it so if you wanna be a good fisherman you need 3 of each 48 colors of each 6 sizes of squarebills, right?? *To save you the math that is 864 squarebills (I don’t even think I’ve used squarebills that many times) Quote
NittyGrittyBoy Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Unless you tournament fish I don't see the need for outrageous amounts of tackle, but that's just my opinion. I keep 3 baitcaster combos and 1 spinning reel. Heavy 7'3 for flipping MH 6'6 for crankbait/chatterbait MH 6'6 fast for topwater Spinning combo is T-rig/shaky head To me that's enough rods I'm not fumbling around, I don't have to constantly retie, and I can fish multiple depths. I'll usually get a new reel/rod every year or so, and my old stuff gets turned into my inshore stuff lol. Just how it works for me Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted May 28, 2018 Super User Posted May 28, 2018 I am an unapologetic tackle hoarder. I'm like many in that through the years I have found what works for me. BUT, I like fishing gear, I buy (within reason) what I want and I like the tackle room. Quote
Rahlow Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Most of y’all would laugh at my stuff, 4 combos, all the same, 1 does have lighter line spooled. My tackle bag is a fanny pack with 20 or so black plastic worms, 5 or so 5/0 owner hooks and about that many 1/4 oz bullet weights, and a buzz bait and a spinner bait,,,,, Quote
NittyGrittyBoy Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 @RahlowI'm not laughing, you don't need much more than that to have a good time really! Quote

Lol When I started in the late 80’s, I soon realized all that **** in the bait n tackle section caught waaay more fishermen than it did fish! Lol, Bass boats had to get bigger to haul all the stuff,,,,, you think boat manufacturers are behind all the latest and greatest lures n rods n reels????? Lol Quote

FCPhil Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 This is what I carry in a backpack along with one baitcasting rod fitted with 30lb braid and a eagle claw snap to swap out lures...has been more than I need and have really liked it. Most of the lures are home made but you get the idea. Quote
