Howdy all,  i fish a 800-900 acre lake in sw Mo. and i have never noticed  the strange actions lately. These carp are running up and down the shallow banks and splshing and thrashing like they are fighting or killing something. Anybody know if this is part of spawning behavior or?

Thats pretty wild! Kinda makes me think of the birds that get together in mid-air and drop until done. The way they twist and turn on the way down  is what the fish act like.

its definitely them spawning. i have witnessed it once before at a lake. my only regret is not snagging a few of them with a treble hook to cut up and use for cutbait when catfishing.

When they pick a cove to do this on our lake, they also end up slamming into the boats and docks along the waters edge, making a huge racket.  They do it at all hours and many folks say it gets so loud it wakes them up in the middle of the night.

Get out the bowfishing gear and start whacking them! They tear up all the new vegetation that all the bass fry (and other gamefish fry) are so dependent on being able to hide in for better survival rates. There's thousands of them doing it on our lakes now and the boats with the lights are rolling out in droves right before dark, it's good to see.

The first time I witnessed them doing this was on a river in the middle of the night. Scared the living **** out of my buddy and I, as I never knew carp did this and we couldn’t see what was thrashing around on the shore just 100 feet or so from us...
