stubinater Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 It's pretty amazing how putting your jig in the right spot can produce fish. Numerous times I have been out fishing with a friend on his boat and i've pulled good bass off a doc or downd tree that he's already worked and came up with nothing and I'm able to skip my jig into the places he can't pitch too and it gets him so worked up lol I spent a couple months only fishing a jig and learning how to skip it just for this reason to be able to get into places others can't. So what's everyones go to jig for skipping? I have to say mine is the denny brauer structure jig, shape of the head obviously makes it easier to skip but I find the shape also gives the jig a bit of a gliding action in stead of falling straight down. I usually rig it with a kvd chunk or cut down a rodent. Quote
riverbasser Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 This is my bread and butter. Its how I've won tournaments out the back of the boat and what I'm doing 80% of the year. I use sieberts brush jigs. I have considered buying his dock skipper head and also SK skipping jig designed by Andy Montgomery. My only hold back is although they may skip a little better (idk) the brush jigs comes out of the nasty cover better than any other jig I've found which is just as important. If you can skip far into the woods but can't work it back out efficiently your not doing much. On a side note although I can skip side arm exceptionally well, I cant pitch-skip for lack of a better word at all but yall know what I mean Quote

I find myself skipping my jigs more than actually pitchin them most of the time even when they don't need to be skipped. The brush/structure jigs are def the way to go in mind, i'll have to check out sieberts and give them a try 1 Quote
Dtrombly Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 I don't use a ton of different jigs but the All Terrain Tackle skipping jig is one of my favorites. Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Andy Montgomery skipping jig paired with a rage bug (flat) as trailer, skips like a flat rock, excellently. However, I will agree it’s not the best coming through brush. Great for docks though. Quote

It is man and they are CHEAP I order directly from Rapala. Dick’s carries them too for like $ 2.99 each.. I’ve had bass hit them so hard that they knocked the skirt down on them. 1 Quote
