No boats here everyone fishes from the shore at this lake idk if that makes a difference with your response but thanks anyways!

I have asked around before this guy caught like 6 bass in 20 minutes using chicken he just sat there and they were biting like savage animals. Idk what piece of chicken he was using or his rig all i saw was a bobber didnt see what hooks he was using and he was casting out in like the middle of the lake nearing the deeper side.

I don't think what kind of chicken is gonna matter. Live bait is almost like cheating when it comes to bass fishing. IF you do decide to use chicken, just put it on the hook so it will stay. Like you would with catfishing.

I would rather catch nothing then use chicken, or live bait.  For me the whole game is, can you make this piece of plastic look live enough for a bass to hit.  The casting, and perfect placement is also an important part of it.  If I am clicking on all cylinders, and the equipment is working well, I feel good, regardless of what I catch.  Its just nice to be out there with mother nature.

I will say one tip, if the bite is tough, SLOW DOWN.  Put a june bug U-Vibe and crawl and stop along the bottom.  This works for me during those hard days.

I agree i wouldve liked to work to catch my fish, sitting and waiting doesnt really give me that same feeling but i feel like i have no options anymore and i have to resort to cheating in a way

I'd definitely try chicken if I were you. An ideal rig would be a weighted bobber, a circle hook tied on with a palomar or clinch knot, and a piece of chicken on the circle hook. Trust me, the circle hooks are perfect for you, you don't have to set the hook, just keep the line tight and they'll hook themselves. They also very rarely swallow circle hooks due to the design of them.

I tried chicken today and sat out there for a solid 4 hours not a single bite just hundreds of blue gil like a piranha frenzy messing with my bait? what else do you reccomend, like what is the prime fishing hours of the day? Where should i look for bass in deep water or close to the shore at this time of year what rigs do you reccomend im pretty good at making rigs but sadly not good at using them

Your asking questions that have no easy answer.  A lot depends on the body of water, the weather patterns, water temp, water clarity,  Deep water is all relative, in Florida that could be 6 feet deep, in mountain reservoirs it could be 60 feet deep.  Time on the water will solve most of your problems.  We have all been through this!  Using chicken is just plane stupid, unless you fishing for catfish.

Its been pretty hot around here latley upper 80s water temp around 60’s to the 70’s murky water only about 1 foot of visibilty and after that a fish is just a silhouette. and id say the deepest part of this lake is directly in the center at around id say 10-15ft range but i have to cast pretty far to get to that part id say that im casting out around a 4ft -10ft deep range what do you reccomend knowing this much. Thanks in advance!

I think you are using the wrong line. You need Berkeley Trilene, Mean Green. 20 or 25 pound test. Change it about once a month if you fish often, change it more frequently if you don’t fish at least once a week.

It took me at least 3-4 years to catch my first bass. Just like you I was confused with all the lures on markets, bought quite a lot and none really give me any result.

The only thing I found to work then was to downsize my lure and slow way down.

Also time of day is important for us Bankbeater. I don't know where you live but here in CA, I fish late morning in winter, and early morning or late afternoon in spring and summer. I think fish don't really school up in shallow unless there are type of cover like tree, stump, rock etc. so fast moving lure, you would have to be there at the right time and right place.

I recommend you try other technique like Texas rig, dropshot and Senko. Slow down, cast in out don't have to be too far out and try to work it back slowlyyyyyy. Start early morning or find any shade area in the afternoon. Look for any activity on surface near shoreline when bass hunting bait fish early morning or before sundown.

Fresh water bsss fishing is suppose to be enjoyable experience not a contest between you and the bass or anyone else. Stress creates anxiety.

Baitcasting outfit that you know how to use is a positive. Lures for active bass is good when the bass are feeding and that is about 20% of the time.

The past 3 months where you live would be pre spawn to spawn and maybe winding down to post spawn/ summer transition. So let’s focus on pre spawn to summer transition periods using the tackle you have.

I take it you are a shore or bank angler not fishing from a boat.

Find a deep water point and start there.

2 rigs; Texas rig with sliding bullet weight and worm hook and Carolina rig with sliding egg sinker, swivel, leader and worm hook.

Bullet weights; 3/16 and 1/4 oz.

Egg sinker; 1/2 oz.

Carolina Keeper.

8mm glass faceted bead.

leader lb Big Game mono (could use as main line).

Hook; premium off set 3/0 worm hook, Owner, Gamakatsu or Mustad Ultra point.

Worm; 6” to 7” straight tail Zoom trick worm and  Zoom Baby Brush hog.

Fan cast the entire point dragging the soft plastic along the bottom with the C/rig and hop the Texas rig about 1’ and pause then repeat. Work both rigs from deep water all the way back onto any coves. You start with a T-rig and work back to the point with s C-rig. Move around to different areas and repeat for a few weeks.

Okay so here it goes, I have fished saltwater my whole life, i got into freshwater fishing exactly 1 year and 4 months ago. Since then in the past year and 4 months ive caught 3 bass under one pound. Ive been going to mainly the same lake for weeks, months fishing for over 4 hours each visit. I have visited numerous lakes around me and i havent caught anything so thats why ive been mainly going to the same lake. Ive seen people catch big bass at the lake i go to ive seen them swim around. Almost all the lakes i love by here in Jersey are all murky so my whole setups consits of murky water water bait colors. Ive tried just about every jig, spinner baits, crankbaits (mind you i am fishing the right baits for the right temprature of water with no results) I have gotten bites but nothing massive. Im out of ideas and i just want to catch fish. I made this account today after spending my day from 8am to 5pm fishing around the whole lake using different baits with not a single bite. I dont know why i keep going but im not stopping until i catch a fish. I only have one rod since i did just get into the hobby. Is there any rigs that i could just cast and let the bait sit there and wait for bite? Because casting and reeling is not working many anglers over here are casting and and just chilling and catching big bass. (Also ive probably watched a crap ton of videos on how to fish each and every bait properly and had an entire year of practice and still no results. Please help me what can i do to getting some life at the end of my line!!

No doubt you have a lot of energy & determination to catch bass but it sounds like you may be a victim of your own enthusiasm.  With just a little more knowledge, there a decent chance you could answer quite a few of your own questions.

Perhaps center your initial focus on these concepts:

How & where bass live seasonally & why.

What they eat & how they feed.

Then learn about the bait bass feed on - where it lives & what it eats.

This info will help you with the following: where to fish, when to fish, what to fish, and most importantly WHY.

Quite a bit of that information is available here - https://www.bassresource.com/how-to-fish/

There's no magic bait or special secret spot or technique that catches bass all the time.

But bass eat most every day and if you can learn what that is & where it takes place you may find yourself being less frustrated.

Good Luck
