jbmaine Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 We're proud of all our grand kids ( we have 12 ) but our oldest grand daughter took to schooling like we've never seen. Ate up any knowledge put in front of her. We found out today she ace'd her college entrance exams and has been accepted at a university. Here's the kicker, she's fourteen. Jim 13 Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 24, 2018 Global Moderator Posted May 24, 2018 Wow! That's a special lady, you should be proud.. I also wish her the very best. Mike Quote
lonnie g Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 wow!congrats to her. part of who she is begins with grandparents ?,somewhere along the line education seemed to be overlooked in favor of sports, more scholarships are given from grades than playing sports. I am a fan of sports and my daughter did play.but her scholarships came from her grades, she was offered the chance to play college ball, but chose schooling instead. she now is in management for a major oil company. best wishes for your granddaughter. Super User Boomstick Posted May 25, 2018 Super User Posted May 25, 2018 Maybe your granddaughter can give my kids some pointers. Sounds like she's figured it out. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted May 25, 2018 Super User Posted May 25, 2018 Amazing, just amazing. At 14 to be smarter than most adults is incredible. Congrats to the young lady and I hope her future is as bright as she is. Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted May 25, 2018 Super User Posted May 25, 2018 Congrats....sounds awesome....now I'm going to also assume you have taught her some good street smarts (old fashioned saying) and .....how to set the hook! Quote
jbmaine Posted May 26, 2018 Author Posted May 26, 2018 Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. Wish I could say the smarts came from my side of the family, but that would be stretching it a bit. I'd also love to take my grand kids fishing but right now most of them are half a country away. Thanks again Jim Quote

I can't help but smile (a really big smile) ...in my day (and especially if you just happened to be female) that type of academic talent went mostly unnurtured and under appreciated. So glad social attitudes have changed and these young people have a chance to blossom. Has she decided on a course of study yet? I wish her great academic success, and wide open doors to endless possibilities. LM Quote
