So I have been extensively researching a heavy power rod to round out my kayak fishing aresenal.  My requirements were $300 or less, 7’3” or less, versatile enough to throw frogs, jigs, and swimbaits on, would work for flipping and pitching also,  super sensitive, and lightweight.  I had finally settled on the Orochi XX Perfect Pitch until I realized they have boarderline microguides.

I really want to run braid to leader on this particicular setup, so I’m back on the hunt for a good rod.  I was considering the St Croix LTB 7’ HF Dock Sniper, but I’m not sure how small the guides are on those either, and I fear it would be a downgrade in sensitivity compared to the new Orochi.    So, I’m hoping to get some suggestions from you guys.  Thanks in advance!

I don't see a st Croix ltb being much if any downgrade from anything else.

Not even Legend Elites?

I fish all 1st gen xx rods and braid to leader is what I use 90% of the time, unless in heavy cover. The guides will pass a connection knot without any issues. I’ve been doing it for years now. The new series of xx rods have slightly larger guides also. The perfect pitch is a fantastic rod and I wouldn’t push it aside just yet.

Haven't seen the new XXs, but I agree with the newer model LTB suggestion. My 2 cents would be to check out a Dobyn's Champ XP 735C. Braid to leader is not a problem and the sensitivity is on par if not better than an LTB. Oh, and the balance is amazing.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I will definitely check it out.
