Skspacemonkey Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Hi, I just bought a new jig and Texas rig combo and I’m thinking on using braided line on it for extra sensitivity. What is a good braid to use for a good price. Thanks!! Quote
Todd2 Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Spiderwire, Power Pro, Sufix 832 are popular choices. I've finally committed to braid this year..straight braid with no leaders. To me, one of the benefits of braid is its strength..adding a leader only weakens it. I like Yellow line and I darken the last 10 feet or so with green. Still trying to find one with a little body. The yellow one I have is too limp and I get tip wraps some. I've got Spiderwire Invisibraid on one, it seems pretty good. I'm sure some long time braid guys will chime in. Quote

Happybeerbuzz Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 832 & PowerPro Spectra are my go tos. Last night I ordered a spool of Kastpro to try out. It’s very thin, and I am curious if it is just accurately rated unlike 832 & PowerPro which are much stronger than their rating. Quote
LCG Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 This year I am running kastking 4 strand braid in 10lb on spinning, 30lb for casting, and 50lb for frogs. All high vis yellow. So far it's been very solid. $15 Canadian for 550 yard spools, you can't really go wrong. $45 total and I have more line than I will use in 5 years. Quote
drscholl14 Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 For braid I use Power Pro in either Moss Green or Hi Viz yellow. Fluoro I use Seagaur InvizX. Quote
CroakHunter Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Kastking, daiwa j-braid, and power pro are the types I've used. Prefer the daiwa j-braid x4 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 23, 2018 Global Moderator Posted May 23, 2018 I use 3 braids, KastKing Super Power, Seaguar Smackdown, and Seaguar Flipping Braid. For what you're wanting to do, I'd suggest going with either the Smackdown or Flipping depending on what lb test you want. Quote
swimmingjig Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 I have a very bad experience with spider , never again . Quote
RichF Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 If you can find it, American Tackle Bushido braid is really good stuff. I'm also a big fan of Sunline FX2. Quote
moguy1973 Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 I have Power Pro Super Slick 8 on my spinning rod and Tuf-Line Supercast on my topwater rod and both are great braided lines. Quote
onenutinthewater Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Fireline Ultra 8. Bye bye frayed braid and tip wrap! Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted May 24, 2018 Super User Posted May 24, 2018 Daiwa J-Braid x8 has been a solid line at a good price. If you need something more abrasion resistant try Power Pro Max Cuatro. Quote

onenutinthewater Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 I have never tried the original fireline but the Ultra is much better than Nanofil as it does not fray. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 24, 2018 Super User Posted May 24, 2018 Original Power Pro is my go-to line, but I have subbed in Spider Wire Stealth, and Suffix braid with no difference in performance. Quote
