redmexican5081 Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Hi all, I just got offered a 1983 mirrocraft tournament fisherman with a 60hp Johnson on the end. Boat was kept inside until the current owner got a new boat about 3 years ago. It's been sitting outside ever since. Motor was winterized but hasn't been started since. The boat looks to be in ok shape beyond a little tlc. There is a casting deck and leaning post on the bow as well as the stern and it looks like a custom (plywood) dash on the starboard side. Were these original or is it most likely he added them over the standard bench seats I see in most aluminum boats of this type? I'm looking for any information on what this boat may be worth. It was offered in place of cash for a job I am doing at the gentleman's house. I am inclined to take him up on the trade because I know I would use the boat and this is the right size for my boys and I to get out on the water with. Any thoughts? Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted May 21, 2018 Super User Posted May 21, 2018 Personally would water test it and give it a detailed look thru. Sitting that long outside is not good at all. Does he have titles? 1 Quote
redmexican5081 Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 He has title. I figure all the wood will need to be removed and replaced, it's not in the best of shape Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted May 23, 2018 Super User Posted May 23, 2018 I am not sure about you but i like to work and get paid and then buy my stuff. I'd also be hesitant on any boat that i would need to put a bunch of time and effort into to get where i want it to be. That additional time and cost should also be factored into your decision on if your job is worth that expense. 3 1 Quote
redmexican5081 Posted August 9, 2018 Author Posted August 9, 2018 Update on this, I got paid in full for my work and went back a few weeks later and negotiated a sweet deal for the boat. Did a gut/rebuild of the interior. Took about two weeks of after work and weekends but I have it put back together. Took it out toady for the first time and it ran great. Total cost for rebuild, hull, motor, and trailer $600. Now I just need to outfit it with a graph and tm. 4 Quote
