Same lure, different color mean different density?

I’ve made my own Teckel Sprinker Frog with a Spro Bronzeye 65 with a #4 VMC 3-way swivel and actual Teckel Sprinker Frog Tail in green color. I did pull the strand legs out and hot glued the holes shut. This lure floated like the regular frog and caught a ton of fish. I gave it to a friend in hopes he’d catch some bass. 

 

I then made a replacement with all the exact same components and modification to the frog legs, however I used a purple Sprinker Teckel frog tail and this one sank and had to be retrieved quickly before it would re-surface and plane at about 1’ foot to 3’ feet from where it landed. 

 

 

Could the purple Sprinker Teckel frog tail be denser then the green Sprinker Teckel frog Tail and thus cause the frog to sink wherein the other green tail did not because it was less dense?

It could, but I feel like that would be very unlikely, it’s just dye/paint/coloring. I’d compare them side by side, look at the hook, the 3 way swivel along with the snap swivel. I’ve had a frog sink on me before because the snap swivel was too heavy.

I did go from a snap to a snap swivel. I’ll look into that too. Thanks. 

 

I just figured it wasn’t that since it seemed to sink in the back and the front floated fine.

It could be off balance too then.
