ECP1989 Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 I have been using a Northland Tackle Mimic Minnow on the river for Smallmouth and was wondering what other options you would suggest. I’m throwing these on a medium action spinning rod so nothing to heavy. Thanks! Quote
Super User Gundog Posted May 21, 2018 Super User Posted May 21, 2018 I like to piece together my own from parts. Just need a ball jig, a spinner arm and blade and a plastic lure body. Great thing is you can customize the weight, blade size and body type and color very easily by just changing one component. Easily adaptable to any fishing conditions you have. If you need heavier weight to get down deeper just change the size of the ball jig. Need more vibration, just change the spinner arm to a larger blade. If you want a more natural color, just change the lure body. 1 Quote

Super User bigbill Posted May 21, 2018 Super User Posted May 21, 2018 I setup my 1/8, 3/16, 1/4oz spinnerbaits using a blue glimmer colored skirt, with a trimmed to fit the hook mister twister 4” split double tail grub. A single or double gold Colorado blade. With a trailer hook and a shot of scent. Or I pickup a Mann’s Classic spinnerbait and tweet it my way. From shore they work. It’s not spinnerbait luck, it’s the skill in the tweeking. When you get the setup right the bass will let you know. Decades ago when this forum was beginning Glenn told me don’t give up with spinnerbaits keep on trying them. He was correct, again thanks Glenn. Quote
