It is because of this type of scenario that I always make my boys where a life vest. There are a couple floating docks that we fish because they are loaded with bluegill and other sunfish. There are no railings on these floating docks, and all it takes is once misstep before they are in the drink.

Glad your daughter is okay and thanks for posting this video!

Wow!  That was a close one.

Glad everyone is OK.

Not only do I make sure kids wear life vests, but they must be able to swim to go out with me on my bass boat.

To each their own lol it's all good being blunt I don't take offense. My dad used to carry me on his shoulders down bear infested rivers at 3 years old in Alaska. I lived to tell about it. Catching trout. She has been in the front deck since she could walk lol.

Glad she was alright. Hopefully it doesn't scare her from wanting to be in the boat and fish with you. I've always let my oldest in the front with me. Personally would rather him be close to me so if he does fall I can reach him faster. He's almost fallen out a few times, I'm sure he'll probably do it eventually but he wears a lifejacket 100% of the time so I'll end up with a similar video out of the deal I'd guess.

Glad you insist she wears her PFD at all times on the boar and that she's okay.

I must say she's quite the caster for her age!

It's the law, it's not about insisting, or taking advice, or safety first.  It is the law.  The US Coast Guard mandates that any child in a boat that's under way, wear a PFD.  Some states go even further.  Under way, means not moored.  Drifting, trolling motor...same as under way.

One thing is for sure, she was safe, you were obviously mindful of her up there, and, that girl will learn how to fish at the front of a boat better than some grown men in no time. Unless you are fishing jagged tipped stumps or have aligators chomping nearby, not sure i see the concern. Have 4 kids of my own. Think it is awesome you are willing to do that with your girl. That girl will NOT take a back seat in life  :)
