I've been fishing with an Abu Garcia Silver Max baitcasting combo for about one year and got the hang of baitcasting after a few months. I recently purchased the Kast King Spartacus Plus baitcaster and have had nothing but trouble. I can't go more than a few casts before getting birdsnests so bad that I have to re-spool my reel. I've tried braid and several different types of monofilament, but nothing seems to work. I've tried different settings with the tension knob and brake as well. I contacted Kast King several times and have received not one reply.  Anyone have any suggestions?

What are you setting the magnetic brake and centrifugal brakes to? I set my Spartacus to 7 on the magnetic break and 2 on the centrifugal. I am assuming that you have set the tension knob slightly tight so that the lure falls at a controlled pace?

Also, what size lures are you throwing?

Contact A. J. Gore on Facebook he works for kastking he's great he will help you! Spartacus Plus is an amazing reel I actually can turn off the breaks as long as it's not dark out I've found that I'm much more accurate at stopping the reel with my thumb right before it hits the water and getting less birds nests if I don't slow it down with my thumb through the whole cast. The Spartacus Plus reel is designed that you don't need your thumb on the line to slow it down you just need to get it there right before it hits the water

Set the centrifugal brakes to 4, Mag brakes to 7 is a good place to start. Use 12lb mono line and set you spool tension knob so the bait you are using falls Sloooooowly to the ground. Keep your thumb at the ready when the lure hits the water on a cast to stop the spool.

You should have no issues at that point.

Set it using the zero-adjust manner, popularized by daiwa. Put the tension up to cease the spool sideplay, go back a little, to allow a minimal one. Forget about spool tension and ajust everything using the brake dial.

Open the side plate and turn the dial on the spool to turn on centrifugal brakes.  I think they are off by default.  If you just rely on the external magnets you will have trouble keeping the spool under control because they are very weak magnets.  I would turn on 4 out of the 6 a run a sidge more spool tension than what is needed to eliminate side to side play.  The magnetic dial is effectively worthless on these.  Use it as a line size indicator or something.

My Kastking Spartacus spool tension not working... There play with the spool rocking side by side with it all the way tight.. Please help

You will need a shim. If its a slight play then just leave it and use the brakes and by brakes I mean the centrifugal brakes and your thumb.  That slow drop thing is not required if you know how to cast.
