EastNcBassin Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 so I have this farm pond I have been fishing for a couple of years, I used to be able to catch tons of fish, both big and small from it in a day, I am almost the only person who fishes it, and definitely the only one who fishes it seriously. it's about 5 acre's, crystal clear (about 10 foot vis) and around 20-30 ft deep at its deepest point. I used to be able to catch fish on moving baits all day long (rattle traps, spinnerbaits etc) but now it seems like the only thing I have major success with is finesse, and I struggle to catch big fish out of it anymore even tho I know there's a ton of 4+ and several 9's to possibly double digits. any advice on how to re learn the fish/pond to catch more and better quality fish again? NittyGrittyBoy Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 How often do you fish it, and it get fished by bank beaters Quote
Super User burrows Posted May 14, 2018 Super User Posted May 14, 2018 Maybe their was a kill off I know some farm ponds that I have fished with huge bass have had kill offs by the owners adding chemicals to kill the weeds leaving the ponds with less fish. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted May 14, 2018 Super User Posted May 14, 2018 Could it be the wonky weather we have been having all over the country? All that is working is finesse for me as well at our local pond. Water temps should be way north of what they are right now. Seems like we get a few warm days sandwiched by cold ones and even colder nights. Quote
Muddy wolf Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Normally by this time I’m thoughing big baits but they still aren’t working well. Catching lots on finesse baits. Mostly Ned rigs and small grubs. Quote
