Super User NHBull Posted May 14, 2018 Super User Posted May 14, 2018 First tournament today. Water temp high was 44 and it was a long 8 hours. Only caught lake trout on blades at 45 feet. The only thing that made us feel better was that 6 out of 29 teams were also shut out. Oh well, there is always next month 4 Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 14, 2018 Super User Posted May 14, 2018 So what did the top 10 teams do as far as techniques? Quote
riverbasser Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Same thing happened to me my first tourney. It was just another day of fishing, shake it off and go again. In tourney fishing somebody always catches em. Sometimes your the guy and sometimes your not. 2 Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Part of it. Keep your head up. Yesterday we weighed in 15.86 lost a 4+ and a 5+. Had to weigh in a 2 and a 2.5. 19.82 won. What was at stake?? A 2018 ranger z518 with an evinrude 150.?? had to settle for 7th and a $1500 check. Could've been worse but we know and it stings a little. 1 Quote

I would look at the top 10 teams, find out where, when, & on what! Were y'all totally off with your assessment of conditions! Was it a timing thing? Was it a location thing? Ya got first hand knowledge of what worked...use it! 1 Quote

Other teams also had the same issue marking trout in traditional bass areas 1 Quote

All about da bass Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Everybody has one of those days. My first tournament, we won it by a landslide(luck). The next tournament, we were boat forty outta 125. Winning that first tournament ruined my mind set on them and gave me to much confidence in winning. That's just me though. We didn't do great the rest of that year. This year we started off strong and we are hopefully gonna end the year strong at the championship. Good luck on your tournaments. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted May 15, 2018 Super User Posted May 15, 2018 I like the tourneys where I stunk but come to find out the winning team was doing the same thing I was .? Quote
