Do we throw one bait for too long?

how often do you/we switch baits?

how long do we stay in that spot?

i have a decade assortment of different baits I switch to often.

i skip fancast the whole area.

once I’m content that I gave it my best shot I go threw every bait changing presentations, sizes and colors. I actually get into the practice mode and have fun trying different presentations. I upsize my baits Incase the bigger fish are there but won’t strike the smaller baits.

i change my flavor of scent. I switch from a bass attractant orginal flavor to a garlic. I see the garlic turn them on.

then I move.

What do do you Do?

Three most difficult questions to answer!

My best answer, follow your Instincts (experience) ?

I agree with @Catt

When the fishing is tough, lure changes and movement are more frequent.

As you dial them in, lure changes and movement are less frequent.

Most days I simply go fishing, usually with a minimum amount of tackle (relatively speaking). I try and catch them how I want to catch them. If that appeoach doesn't work, I either adapt or go home.

I pre rig my tackle with the baits I know catch fish in the location I am fishing.  I have enough rods on deck to cover the whole spectrum of offerings (both water column and action).  I normally don't change unless I think a different color may produce better.  Assuming I am confident the fish are there.  If I am in a new place or I am not confident, I will stay on the move until I locate them either by electronics or catches using high percentage baits or my confidence baits.  Some days I win, other days the fish win.  ?

In the spring the first thing I throw is a white spinnerbait with a Keitech trailer. When the weather warms up the first thing I throw is a t-rigged Yum Dinger or a longer Zoom worm. I'd say that close to 75% of the time that lands fish for me.

Even if the bite starts off good it usually drops off and then I end up switching to something else. When the bite is not so good right away I methodically go through my tackle bag based upon the lagoon I'm fishing, the time of year, and the current conditions. The worse the bite, the quicker I go through my tackle bag. I should probably be more patient.

Even then, sometimes I get skunked. But it beats sitting around doing nothing.

Usually there is more than one way to fish the area I'm targeting .For  example a 200 yard long cove with the major cover lay-downs . If I fish it all and dont get bit on a Texas rig , jig , spinnerbait or top-water then its time rethink my strategy.

I usually fish the same bodies of water, and know what generally works. However on the days that "old faithful" isn't producing, how much I change my game depends on my mood. If I haven't had a good "fish " day in a while I'll hunker down and go thru my bag of tricks.

Other times I'll just putt along. For instance, If I'm fishing weeds and lilly pads, I like throwing a frog, it's fun. If the bite is slow I'll probably keep using it, just because it's fun. I'd rather catch 1 or 2 on a frog than more punching thru slop.

I'm just waiting on one of these famous bacon cheeseburgers you speak of.

My famous bacon cheeseburger,

grill cheese, cheese on both slices. Your favorite cheese.

burger 1/4 lber

bacon

yellow sweet onions sliced fried in olive oil, with salt, pepper, ketchup, paperika, cooked till carmalized.

these are so good. As a kid I worked in a fast food place I could only eat four. They are filling.

Nailed it. Some days I go out there with 1 bait, and soley focus on learning that 1 lure.

Other than that I'll fish my confidence baits and then move on to fresh water

This is me exactly.  I usually go out with the mindset of "I wanna catch some bass on this lure or presentation".   If the bass don't want what I am trying to give them I usually have a few back up lures on me, usually stuff that is a 180 from whatever my primary presentation is for the day.

If the fishing is slow, I stick to my favorite lure for that time of year and body of water.  I will try to cover more water hoping to find active fish.  If the fishing is medium, I will slow down, move around less, and try to cover the water from top to bottom with a few different lures, at different speeds.  If the fishing is fast, I will try every thing in box, especially lures I have no confidence in, new lures I haven't tried yet, and cheaper versions of what is working.  I love to experiment on good days, going from my favorites to something new, back and forth, until I find what works best and what doesn't work at all.  Then I will go to another area that I have never fished before and start all over again.  I drive my freinds crazy with my experimenting.  They always say if it aint broke why fix it, I say lets try to breaK it, then see if we can fix it a different way.  Then there are the days I want to keep it simple.  A shovel, dig some worms, one rod, one hook, a bobber, and a frying pan.
