I have been looking to get a travel/pack spinning rod to keep in my truck or when I travel or camp. I have narrowed it down to the Okuma Citrix 6'6" or 7'2" ML (4pc with case) and the 1 Three O-Men *** 6'7" ML (3pc with case). Which of these two would be the better rod, durability and sensitivity wise? Or can anyone suggest another option? The Daiwa Ardito is out of the picture because it only comes in Medium. I am looking into ML because I have read with multi-piece rods they tend to be on heavier side, power wise.

Please let me know what your opinions/experiences with these rods are. Thanks in advance!

Im in the same boat. Im looking at the Diawa HMG amd the St Croix travels rods.

Im leaning towards the Diawa, as it comes with a semi rigid case.

Im hoping some BR members chime in this one. As, I am as interested as you are.

I can't attest to any of those two rods, but I can say that I was in a similar position last year and purchased a light action 4 piece St Croix for a backpacking (and future) trips. It is a nice rod, plenty sensitive, but since then, I have learned that Daiwa and other companies make high quality telescopic rods. That is what I will be purchasing in the future (hopefully near future). They seem to be more convenient and practical, as they would be much faster to set up and go fish with. I am actually looking to purchase a couple of telescopic rods to fit as role players for trout and finesse fishing. I can see myself using them much more often than a 4 piece pack rod because it would be much faster and easier to get to casting at whatever body of water I happen to be at. No need to piece together all the pieces and string the line through all the guides - just extend, allign, and cast.

Here is a youtube video of a guy talking about some of the telescopic rod options out there.

...

can anyone suggest another option?

2-pc works well for the truck. If you want it even more accessible, a 6'0 4-pc can fit in an everyday carry messenger/laptop bag, with you at all times - work, friend's place, etc. No need to go to the truck.

I got a StC 6'0 L/F 4-pc (with 1000 size reel) for those ultra portable situations. I chose L/F for panfish through bass, as long as the bass aren't too big. Which is fine for me since I can't seem to catch big bass. StC has higher power options on a 4-pc if you don't need the panfish.

I'm looking forward to that day when we have a fire drill at work and instead of waiting in the parking lot for 30 minutes I go fishing in the fire pond. Rumor has it there are bass in there. If security doesn't kick you out. One of the ponds has a sign "no swimming, wading or ice skating" - but it doesn't say no fishing ;)

I have seen the Diawa telescoping rods on Ebay and they want a chunck of money for them. Im not opposed to dropping 160.00+, but they come from Japan and who knows if they are legit Diawa poles.

You can find the BBB on Amazon for about 160. Should be legit off there.

I have a BBB ML/MF casting rod and like it a good bit.  Not caught anything huge on it yet but it will lift a 2ish pound talipia out of a canal without seeming like it’s going to explode.

The case it comes in is crazy good too. You can store it with a reel attatched and the line threaded and go from hiking to fishing in a minute.

And honesty at this point I trust ebay over amazon in terms of bootleg stuff and getting my money back.

i've got a daiwa ardito spinning rod, ardito casting rod and okuma travel swimbait rod.  the daiwas are great for the money i paid for them!  i got them for about $85 or $90 and they're great.  i've taken them on the plane a few times without issue and they fish very well for the $....  the citrix i just picked up and will be really putting it to work in a few weeks on a trip to Phoenix...

good to hear you like it, its the rod I've got my eyes on. And yeah, I'm probably with you on that ebay over amazon thing, ebay has multiple levels that protect the buyer.

Ardito's are very strong rods. I'd call the M spinning a MH. They've now added a ML to the line, although it's 7'6".
