If you can't find a line recycler near you - Berkley still runs it's line recycling program for mono and FC. Pack it up and ship it to Berkley Recycling 1900 18th Street Spirit Lake, Iowa 51360 Braid...I dunno. I just wind it up and cut it twice so it's 3"-4" lengths, then into the trash. Quote

Super User gim Posted December 15, 2023 Super User Posted December 15, 2023 The Cabela's I frequent about 3 times/year has a recycling bin for old mono and FC line. I try to cut up old braid before I trash it too. Luckily most of my trash ends up in an incinerator here, not a landfill. Quote

Super User Log Catcher Posted December 17, 2023 Super User Posted December 17, 2023 I have a Cabelas about 10 minutes from the house. I go there three or four times a year. I am usually looking for something I need right away but I am lucky if they have it in stock. Several years ago I went and asked them if the took in fishing line for recycling. They said no they never had at this store. I don't know if it has changed since BPS bought them out. Quote
Woody B Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 I put mine in a water bottle if a bottle is handy........but I re use water bottles. Most of the time I ball the line up and wrap it with masking tape. I'd never heard or or thought of recycling line. I've never thrown it in the lake. Quote

The Cabela's nearest me has a much bigger tackle selection than any other in-person retailer here, and its not even close. They must have 25 aisles of fishing tackle and its generally well-stocked. For that reason I buy most of my stuff from them. I am primarily an in-person shopper. Online purchases are not my thing. The Scheels here remove their tackle during the winter for ice fishing tackle which I think is a huge mistake. They miss out on a lot sales when they do that, especially around the holidays. The other two here would be Fleet Farm and DSG. DSG has fishing tackle, but it's not big selection. And Fleet Farm is really bad about restocking, so they lose my business at times too. Omnia Fishing has earned some of my business because they are not just an online retailer. They have a unique business model. They have a retail shop and they are close enough to me that I can just go buy things or pick them up in person. 1 Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted December 18, 2023 Super User Posted December 18, 2023 @gimruis our store is one of the smaller ones. It is listed as 72,000 square feet. It has several aisles of fishing section. They have some name brand baits but it is loaded with BPS branded baits. The other choice is Sportsmans Warehouse. It has some good choices but the prices are so high I hate to buy from them. They used to take in fishing line but I'm not sure they still do. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 18, 2023 Super User Posted December 18, 2023 Several of the lakes I visit have recycling stations. I try to save a batch a couple of times a year and dispose of it at one the locations. 1 Quote
