KYBassin' Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 I know this past weekend was the opener and that many places up north had ice on later than normal...any word on water temps/bass activity? thanks Quote
Super User Scott F Posted May 7, 2018 Super User Posted May 7, 2018 Big state Wisconsin. There are some shallow lakes ice free in Northern Wisconsin in the lake country of Vilas and Oneida counties. As of right now, the bigger lakes still have lots of ice which means those lakes, where there is open water, are still in the 30’s Quote
KYBassin' Posted May 7, 2018 Author Posted May 7, 2018 You’re right. It is a big state and I was very general. Crazy that big lakes are still mostly covered. Spawn will be running behind this year. Hope the ice moves out soon for you guys. Quote
KYBassin' Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 How are the water temps looking in northern WI? Quote
dwtaylor Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Did you by any chance look at lake-link? They have more local traffic than any other site that I know of for Wisconsin fishing info. FWIW, Lake Winnebago has water temps in the upper 50s right now and I was able to find as high as 64 and fish on beds in some areas. Last week was somewhat warm until Friday through Sunday morning but it has warmed since. The forecast this week has me thinking I'll be fishing Sturgeon Bay! Quote
Super User Scott F Posted May 14, 2018 Super User Posted May 14, 2018 A friend of mine is there now. Northern WI lake that he was on is in the low 50's. I'm going up there next weekend, staying 2 weeks. Quote
KYBassin' Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 Nice Scott. Good luck. I’ll be up there during Memorial Day week. Quote

I live just south of there, and we we had a weird start to the season... Water temps on the opener were mid 40s...buy the next weekend, they were mid 60s and smallies were moving onto beds... Beds all over the weekend after that...then 90° air temps...then 50s...It's been all over the place so far. Sorta normal now. Quote
