New Top Water You Want To Try ?

As the title states - are there any new top water baits you are anxious to try this Spring or have just started using for the first time as the water warms up ? For me , the Storm Arashi Cover Pop and the WP110.  ... Your thoughts ?

Sprinker Frog-type bait. I tried to make one and it worked a little while before the tail wouldn't stay on.

I made a Homemade one using Spro and Booyah Pad Crasher with a 3 way swivel and an actual Sprinker Teckel Frog replacement tail which uses a CPS Twistlock Spring. It worked awesome. 

 

 

I can't wait to try the new Booyah Toad Runner this year to replace my homemade Sprinker frog and hopefully the Whopper Ploppers will keep killin' it.

I'm going to give a double prop-bait a try.  I haven't used on in over a decade. Wounded Zara Spook and Cordell Boy Howdy. I still have an old WoodChopper that I may break out.

Strike King Poppin Perch.  Thought it looked ridiculous when I first saw it but then saw how the pros were fishing it and how well it was working I picked one up and can't wait to use it.

It’s a cool bait. Fouls easily though. Any bit of grass or tiny leaf will mess it up. And you need to start reeling the second it hits the water, or it’ll sink.

I already tried a few this year and have a few more, mostly these lures came from Asia side.

The one that really catch my eyes is BPS copied from whopper plopper but both head and tail spin.

I'm late to the Whopper Plopper party because I waited for the prices to cool a little.  Picked up a batch to use this year and see if the hype is true.

I ordered the Megabass Grand Siglett this winter. I had previous luck with the Duo Realis Shinmushi but had durability issues. The holding screws for the body literally worked themselves out and the dang thing came apart mid-cast. But looking at the Siglett, it looks more durable. I only question its hook, I may replace it with a treble.

 

Otherwise, I bought a Teckel Sprinker early spring this year and I'm anxious to use it. But I like the looks (and reviews) of the Booyah Toad Runner, so I may end up with one of those too. I just don't know how well I'll like it's nearly 1oz weight. Any thoughts on that?

For me the Whopper Plopper (110 size) is hit and miss. On some lagoons they just crush it on almost every cast. On other lagoons I can throw it all day long and not get one strike. This even happens with lagoons that are in the same neighborhood and interconnected via the stormwater system.

 

On some lagoons it gets hit on the pop and stop and others on a straight retrieve.

 

What I'm getting at is that if you throw the Whopper Plopper somewhere and it's a complete bust don't give up on it and bury it in your tackle box. Try it at every location you fish and find out where it works.

The Jackall Riser Bait is eyeing me from my TW wish list.  I think that could be a real smallie killer in the late summer/early fall...

After having some moderate success with prop baits last season I am excited to try my new sprinker frog and whopper ploppers.  I know the WP's will work because I watched a guy fishing right behind me catching fish I was missing.. and I like the sprinker for the weedless nature when I am in pads and grass.. at least that is my hope for this season.

I also have the new River2sea Lane Changer's dual prop baits that look awesome and I can't wait to get on the water and some of the new Booyah Toadrunner's too (I tried the Sprinker frogs and wasn't impressed, these Booyah's look to be built better).
