garry77 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Hey Gang, I have a tracker pro team 175(2007 model). The fish finder is a lowrance XCr-somethin' or rather.the depth finder reads the depth fine so long as you're not up on plane. Then it'll only display the last depth you were at before you took off until you slow down to idle speed again. My question is are there any ways to adjust the settings to get it to read better on plane?I know other peoples depth finders work on plane.Thanks. Super User cart7t Posted October 28, 2007 Super User Posted October 28, 2007 Unless you're gain is set too low it's probably the following.. In problems with graphs losing signal or giving erroneous readings at running speeds, most dash mounted depthfinders with skimmer type transducers mounted to the transom lose sufficient signal to operate properly due to excessive turbulence sending air bubbles across the face of the transducer or the transducer is mounted in a position too high where the transducer actually loses contact with the water. Your choices in an aluminum boat are to move the position of the transducer to another location where the turbulance coming off the hull doesn't interfere with the transducers ability to send and receive a good signal. Since your boat is aluminum you don't have the option of going with a thru hull transducer. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted October 30, 2007 Super User Posted October 30, 2007 Yes, you do have an option of using an in-hull transducer on an aluminum hull. There is one made just for that purpose. http://www.vexilar.com/pages/accessories/accy_transducers_au.html Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 30, 2007 Super User Posted October 30, 2007 I think this comes up about every three days. I agree completely with Cart7 Quote
HPBB Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 I use a 2005 Traker 175PTX alot. Its my father-inlaws. that depth finder on it sucks. It does the same thing yours does. What motor do you have one it? This one only runs a 25hp, because of HP limited water, I found out thet the transducer keeps kicking up when the boat is running at speed. when this happens it will not read. I have to keep making sure the transducer is pointing down, then it will keep up with the boat. Quote
