BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 27, 2018 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 27, 2018 Who's going kayak bass fishing this weekend? https://www.hobie.com/kayaks/mirage-pro-angler-14/#fishing 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 I am tomorrow evening. I'm really looking forward to it. It's about the end of the spawn here. I'm not sure what I'll find when i get there. It was in full swing when i went two weeks ago. I hope the topwater bite is on. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 Went yesterday, but just for 2 hours, my first 2018 yak outing. Quote
Graham Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 If the wind stays down I will be putting in for sure! Last time I took out the yak it was an absolute blow out and I couldn’t even fish. Live and learn.... tight lines! Quote
Turtle135 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Me and my little friend have big plans for large green fish! 2 Quote
JG233 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 I went from 7:00 to 2:00 yesterday. Muddy water, that topped out at 58. No bites. No activity up shallow. I marked tons of inactive fish from 6-8ft in about 16 ft of water. Quote
Southern_Bass Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Went this morning, hopefully going back out tomorrow! 5 Quote
haggard Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Planning on it! It will be the first time on the water this year as well as the maiden voyage for the yak. And hopefully the first fish too. Had a dream last night that I landed two bass on a single lure, single cast. A sign? Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 I doubt I will go this weekend. 63 degrees 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms for Saturday. Sunday is a high of 49 degrees and 50% chance of rain. Both days winds in the 10mph range. Not ideal kayaking weather plus the water temps in my favorite spot are still pretty cold. Soon though, soon! Quote
TimberTodd Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Cant this weekend but went out last Friday. Water temp was 54 and the only taker was a 18" Rainbow on a KVD Dreamshot. Quote
IgotWood Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Yup! I have a morning plan Sunday, which I think will pan out well. Then in the afternoon I am stuck taking my wife out with me. I bought a second kayak this winter "so she can come fishing with me". Now I actually have to take her 1 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 28, 2018 Global Moderator Posted April 28, 2018 I'd like to, but the 30mph winds make me think taking the boat will be a better idea. Quote
Dens228 Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 I went out yesterday. About my 6th or 7th time out, first outing with more than one fish..I caught six, all over 16" with the biggest at 19". Highest water temp was 59.7. I fished a quarry and cast a jig/ragetail onto shallow shelves, dragged them to the edge and let it drop. The edges were about 2 feet deep, the drop was straight down to about 14 feet and they were suspended along the wall. When that stopped working I fished chatterbaits along the edge of blowdowns. Great day! 1 Quote
ApacheGuns515 Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 Ya'll are making me jealous. I've been impatiently waiting for the weather to warm up to some reasonable temperature before heading out in my yak. It's nearly May and it's still in the 30s and 40s here... Plus bass season doesn't open up here until June. Plus the city closed down my favorite trout spot/kayak launch spot for some reason... Just not having a good start to fishing season lol. Quote
Yakalong Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 I wanted to go this weekend, but the wind never let up so I decided against it and took the boat instead. Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted April 30, 2018 Super User Posted April 30, 2018 this was he first weekend in a while i haven't gotten out for at least a few hours. This was one i caught last weekend that really wanted my square bill 1 Quote
YoTone Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 I took mine out both sat and today. today was hard due to the wind but i managed with my propel drive and an anchor. 1 Quote

Definitely going to have a late spawn this year. Went out on the kayak for the first time this season and the water was 42 degrees. Very slow going. I got a good skunking to start the year. Quote
Turtle135 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Tidal Potomac River yesterday. A cold front blew through before sunrise and the wind was relentless. A YakAttack ParkNPole was key as I locked down on laydowns that extended into the pads and pitched a light jig repeatedly to the same target. 4 Quote
