As I accumulate more crankbaits I am trying to find an easy way to store and organize them. Like most I use Plano 3600 and 3700 boxes (actually I switched to Lure Lock but same sizes). I only own shallow water down to 8' since I don't fish deep waters very often. How do you organize? I have 1.5, 2.5, squarebill, roundbill, circuit board, silent, rattle, and flatsided. I just keep getting overwhelmed trying to figure out what should go where.

I use a large Plano tackle box for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, terminal tackle. The only baits I keep in a 3700 size box are suspending jerkbaits.

I use 3600 boxes.........squarebills and cranks to 10 feet go in one, deep and lipless go in another, I put wake baits in with my surface lures.

I have mine all stuffed in a single 5000 sized flambeau box, but i limit what i carry so i can be high speed/low drag on the yak

The best thing I've done yet, hook bonnets for multiple cranks in one slot and I sharpie the diving depth on the bill when I take them out of the package. Beyond that I don't bother sorting or organizing.

By size/type in 3700 boxes. I like throwing cranks and have a ton and 5 dedicated crank rods. At least 2 are almost always on deck of boat.

1.5 &2.5 lucky craft

1.5 &2.5 strike king

Squarebill (not lc or sk)

Shallow 1-5'

Middle n/deep lil n normans

5-10'

5/6xd

Deep 10+

8/10xd and mag cranks

Well a couple years ago I kind of went ape spit on crank baits .. so I have a whole tackle box full of them... It has 4 Plano boxes inside, all the ones that have been used are sorted inside them by style (depth and action).

The top of it is full with ones that haven't seen the water yet lol. Probably 30+ on top of the 50 or so that are in the boxes.

They're all hardbaits in this tackle box, hard top waters , and jerkbaits included.

Whenever I plan to go fishing I go through and pick a few out and rotate them into a smaller soft pack that has some smaller Planos.

Works for me.

I store most of my crankbaits in a couple of size 3700 Plano Tackle boxes.

I have 3 boxes for cranks:

1) Lipless, Shad imitators, and magnum cranks.  In this the lipless are separated by colors (reds, shad colors and bluegill colors).  The shad imitators are divided by Shad Raps, Glass Shad Raps and then "others" from non-rapala brands.  I only have a few magnums (10XD, LC Magnum).

2) Squarebills, Medium Divers, miscellaneous.  The squarebills are seperated by rattling and silent.  The medium divers are separated by general depth (6-9ish, 10-13ish).  The miscellaneous includes a section for jigs, spybaits, and some no-named floating cranks.

3) Jerkbaits.  These are separated by size (<100mm and >100mm).  Those are then divided into groups of Floaters vs Suspending.  And those are then finally sorted by running depth (<4ft and >4ft).

Its worth noting my boxes are of the "deep" variety, which helps to store more baits in each box.  I then have a smaller box which i'll load up with what I think i'll use for the day and put in my backpack.

All the baits have bonnets on them, which is a huge convenience.  Although I haven't adopted a good strategy for re-installing the bonnets after using a bait.  I want to wait to put them back on to let the hooks dry, but then I just leave the bonnets in my pockets and ultimately my wife finds a bunch in the wash!

for me it depends on the crankbait style my squarebills and lipless are very similar just in a 3700 plano like so, most of the organization of squarebills is silent/rattling and colour

I organize my baits by depth but I group them according to brand and type. I don't separate square bill from shallow diver since they get used in similar situations. So in 1 of my shallow boxes I'll have Yo-Zuri square bills across the top and then in the second row it is Mann's Baby 1 Minus baits. The third is my Rapala DT-4 and DT Flat 3 baits and the bottom row are Bagley Rattlin' Kill'R B2s and Strike King 1.5s. I have 7 shallow diving boxes total and I'll do the same for the medium and deep divers. I could take a couple of shallow diving cranks and just fill one box with 1 brand and type, like Baby'1 minus baits, I have enough to do 2 full boxes but when I go on a friend's boat I simply grab a shallow diving box and put it in my bag and I'll have a nice selection of shallow running baits.

All these responses lead me to believe I have too many crankbaits. It was easier when I didn't have over 100 of them.

Anyways, thank you for all the responses it has selped tremendously.

I hate crankbaits, so I only carry 1 deep 3700 box. I have one section for magnum cranks, one for micro cranks, then all normal sized baits are organized by color (shad, chartreuse, craw, other).

Yup, I have a square bill flambo a jig flambo mid diver flambo spinnerbait Plano cold water crank flambo top water flambo Miscellaneous flambo frog flambo and a crayon flambo, I like coloring books??

I wouldn't call it organization (I'm really bad with that) but I keep them in 3700 boxes by make/model in the garage, and 3700 boxes by depth (shallow/mid/deep). Most times out, I'm not usually cranking deep and shallow, so I'll have a larger assortment of what I intend to do, and a couple bracketing shallower and deeper. I usually don't carry a huge # of cranks with me, I have my go to baits depending on body of water and time of year.

I carry two Plano boxes for crankbaits when I go fishing but I have a lot  more than that . One will include  square-bills and lipless  the other long bills .

How do you organize your crankbaits?

My boat does it for me.

Same here. 2 full Plano tackleboxes is more than enough for the places I fish and I leave the rest of the Plano Tackleboxes at home. I have at least 14 size 3700 Plano tackle boxes filled to capacity last time I checked and that would be way too much to bring fishing.

I go by type, size, and depth, and then whatever spot is left open while I'm fishing and want to do a quick bait switch - then I re-organize again later :)
