jbmaine Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 Hi All, My Garmins have the ability to turn off surface clutter ( think that's the right word) so it doesn't show up on the screen. I guess my question is, when is it better to turn it of, or leave it on? Thanks Jim Quote
RHuff Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Can someone explain how to turn it off on the Echomap Series. Quote

Sprocket Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 I think it's in the installation menu. Not sure tho. SE Kansas grass grower Quote

To get to it-- get into traditional sonar (hit) menu ( select) sonar setup ( select) advanced ( select) surface noise ( by clicking on this you can turn it on and off) That should do it, Hope this helps. Super User WRB Posted May 1, 2018 Super User Posted May 1, 2018 By deleting surface clutter you lose about 15% of screen top. I am not familiar how Garmin achieves eliminating surface noise/clutter, 2 different things, noise is interference and clutter is suspended particles, debris, bubbles and baitfish. If this is accomplished by reducing gain, don't do it. Tom 1 Quote
BobP Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 I run my H’bird with surface clutter cancellation ON. I can’t tell the difference in sensitivity. Quote
