Does anyone have any experience with the BassPro Tourney Special Casting Rod?

BassPro has them on sale for 30.00 and was wondering if they are any good?

Would be a great starting out rod.  You get what you pay for.

I have the spinning rod which I got on a similar sale a year and a half ago and I've handled the casting versions in the store a little. They are a pretty solid rod for the money, especially when on sale. I've had no issues with my spinning rod that I didn't cause. If you have a chance to get your hands on one prior to buying it might be a good idea to do so. The grip on the casting rod is thicker than pretty much any other casting rod I've held. Not necessarily a bad thing but I could see some people not liking it.

At that price it'll be pretty hard to beat. I've had the spinning rods, they weren't bad. At the regular price you're competing with the fuego rods (never tried but good reputation) and the berkely lighting which are awesome. At the sale price you can't go wrong unless the green trim turns you off.

I gotta add, and it's off topic, but i have the 30 sized spinning reel to match. It's got more miles on it than my wrangler and Just. Won't. Die. I kinda wanna grab another one.

I have an older one that I caught on sale as well.  Hard to beat for the money.  Not the lightest or most sensitive rod I've got, but it's solid and dependable and does the job.  Mine still goes out pretty regular even after close to 10 years.

I have 3, 2 BC and one spinning that my wife found while walking the dog.  It must have fallen off someon's truck.  They are a good, solid, tough rod. Still use them.  The one piece is more sensitive than the two piece, for what that is worth.  The two piece is my travel rod.  I agree about the lightening shock.  It is a better rod for the money IMHO.
