Hook2Jaw Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 So, I like to fish inshore as well for redfish, speckled trout, and flounder. I can catch tons of fish with shrimp and baiitfish imitators, but... I know a spot where the reds swarm crabs, and they won't touch anything else when they're doing so. The crabs I'm looking to imitate are blue crabs, and they're typically a mixture of dark brown and greenish on their bodies, but their pincers are blue. So as far as the actual jig goes, green pumpkin and brown should do just fine, but does anyone know of any trailers that come in brown/blue or green pumpkin and blue? Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted April 25, 2018 Super User Posted April 25, 2018 A lot of companies sell variations of color called Okeechobee - is the blue too bright in those? Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted April 25, 2018 Author Posted April 25, 2018 That's probably exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks, Chop! Gonna check it out right now. As soon as you mentioned bright blue, I was like, heck yeah! Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 25, 2018 Super User Posted April 25, 2018 Baby blue is the color on the crabs we have here in Maryland. That is until they get cooked with some Ole Bay. Allen Quote

J.Vincent Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 If you want some flash or sparkle, the Swimmin Craw in color1099 by Big Bite Baits should work nicely. You Can always add more blue with Garlic Scented Blue Markers Quote

Super User WRB Posted April 25, 2018 Super User Posted April 25, 2018 Take a look at Siebert Outdoors, site sponsor, Sniper Jig in Bluegill color with Yamamoto Cowboy in Bruised Shin color. Any redish brown-green pumpkin jig with neon blue craw should work. The GYCB Cowboy has a flatter body with a few legs and double tails. Tom Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted April 26, 2018 Super User Posted April 26, 2018 Strike King has their blue craw color or Okechobee. Depends upon how subtle you want the blue part. Send SiebertOutdoors a PM. I would bet he could custom make skirts using various tabs that would be precisely what you are looking for. Quote

Hook2Jaw Posted April 26, 2018 Author Posted April 26, 2018 Gotta love this forum, so much help, and not one link to the jig topic! Thanks again, guys! I'm still not decided on what I'm going with, but that big bite baits craw looks amazing and I'm really feeling that color to imitate local crabs. It's time for redfish on a bass jig! Quote
