Justbass11 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 I forgot to pull the drain plug and it rained. The back Compartment was full of water where the batteries are at. I have two battery chargers in that compartment, what are the odds that no damage was done? I believe I should be fine but was just wondering what you all think. All replies are welcomed. Quote
DomQ Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Isn't the water suppose to be outside the boat not inside? Quote
th365thli Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Was the battery charger submerged? Were the batteries completely submerged? Forgot to put on my drain plug when launching and my batteries were partially submerged. Everything was fine however. The real question is how submerged your chargers were. Quote
Justbass11 Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 I think they were really submerged. I went to charge my batteries and all I saw was water. I immediately pulled the plug and turned the pump on. Hopefully everything will be ok. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted April 24, 2018 Super User Posted April 24, 2018 I think the batteries will be okay. The question is how well sealed are the chargers? Quote
MI.Kayaker Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 I froze my promariner in a block of ice and it still works. Good luck. Quote
haggard Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Were the chargers running when they got flooded? From your response it sounds like they were off (good). My money's on if you thoroughly dry the chargers out (leave them in direct hot sun for a day) before trying to use them they'll be okay. Fortunately it's fresh water, not salt. Usually it's the other way around: we forget to install the drain plug. Not that I've been there or anything Quote
RHuff Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 I put my plug in before launching and pull it immediately after trailering. I also keep my boat covered at all times and i crank up the front of the trailer so if it rains and water gets in it will immediately run out. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted April 25, 2018 Super User Posted April 25, 2018 Let everything dry out 110%. I’d bet you’ll be OK. Quote
Super User gim Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 I agree with th365, if they were totally submerged you may have a problem on your hands. Partially submerged shouldn't be an issue. I failed to put my plug in before launching once years ago and realized it half an hour later on the lake when I saw water in the bottom of the boat on a bright sunny day. I did not experience any damage to the chargers or batteries but the water level didn't go really high either. Quote
RHuff Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 I have never (knock on wood) forgot to put the drain plug but I have forgotten to plug the live well several times and it just fills up an inch or two in the bottom to the water line on the boat. I know the main drain plug will be a different story though. Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 That's the reason I haven't upgraded to the remote drain plug on my Ranger. I'll never forget to pull or insert the drainplug because I HATE crawling under the boat to put that sumbeoytch in or out. As for your situation, plug it in and get your answer. You've got a 50-50 shot!! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 Marine chargers are water proof. Quote
