Zoom Trick Worms - Probably a silly question...

When you Texas Rig (weighted or weightless) a Trick Worm, is the hook point supposed to be on the top of the worm or is it supposed to be on the flat bottom part of the worm? I've never really known. I do it both ways and have caught a lot of fish both ways, but I've always wondered. If there is no wrong way, which one is the better way?

I have rigged them where the hook point is on the top of the worm. IMO this gives the worm the max tail shimmy on the drop through the water column.

I use straight shank hooks & the point is buried in the worm.

 

I don't think the bass really care ?

I do it with the point in the top of the worm after it's rigged. Mostly because I use the letters on the bottom to gauge where I should stick the hook thru. That way, I get the perfect spot every time. Here's a little money saver. After you catch a few (or miss a few) and the nose of the worm gets chewed up, you can bite or cut just a bit off the nose of the worm and thread it back on and catch a couple more. They really don't care if it's 1/2" shorter. In fact, it probably gets more bites by being shorter.

I rig them flat side down, my wife rigs them flat side up, the fish don't seem to care. I turn them 90 degrees and keep reusing them when running short, fish still don't seem to care.

Depends on hook selection.  I have gone back to worm or offset worm and glad it did

I always rig mine with the hook on top and the flat side down. I never really thought about rigging it any other way.

I'm an EWG in almost all things kinda guy. Superb confidence in the hook and hookset that way. Also easy to change out most plastics with a 3/0 EWG. Hard pressed to find a more universal hook.

There are no formal rules on how to set up your Texas rig for any type of plastics.

 

As stated above, the bass really don't care.

 

I like having the flat surface on the bottom with the hook on top.

 

You do it anyway you want. Just go out and do some fishing.

I do that as well. That way you don't need another worm for wacky rigging.

I wacky rig too, but I inquired about Texas Rigging specifically for the reason I mentioned.
