Jcj01 Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Ok need some experience help. Im new to owning a boat, I bought a crestliner Muskie 550 1977 it is in great shape structurally but needs some tlc the floor has old vinyl carpet was going to replace it, so look under it and the floor is all fiberglass no wood. can I just coat it with a rubberized floor coating or do I need to put wood down then carpet? What is the best way to take care of this. I want to do it right. Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted April 20, 2018 Super User Posted April 20, 2018 The original carpet was glued to the fiberglass so you always have the option to re-do it with carpet. There are also a lot of aftermarket floor coverings like Sea Dek that will glue to glass as well. You can also spray in a bedliner type material but that would be my last option. Quote
kjfishman Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 What not to do. Replaced the carpet in my old boat with black carpeting because it looked good. Big mistake the black carpet got too hot on sunny summer days. Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 20, 2018 Super User Posted April 20, 2018 1977 Tri Hull walk through is a fiberglass boat. Take a look online how to re carpet a boat. If you carefully remove the old carpet you can use it a pattern to cut new carpet pieces. Lots of marine carpet to choose from. Good luck, Tom Quote
